Problem is; you have to move someone if you pick Grigs and that someone has to be either Desharnais or Plekanec. While i'd rather keep Plekanec is faced with this choice, dont think Desharnais has reached his ceiling yet and so i'd rather not trade either of them at all for now. Wait a year, maybe two to see if DD can still improve.

he wouldnt be in the NHL next year anyways so you still have time to see what DD/Eller might become

I'm wondering why people are so high on Forsberg. He seems to have not so great stats on a second tier league. The only good thing that I hear from him is that he's more NHL ready than the other prospects. Having a player play one or two year earlier than another his not that great if he finally play on the 3rd line were the others would be 1st/2nd line players.

I'm in no way an expert on the draft, so maybe I'm missing something. What are the positives with Forsberg ? Has he really the same kind of potential than Grigorenko or Galchenyuk ?

I just don't want an Eller #2, we already have one of those.

I've watched Forsberg 3-4 times this year and honestly, I hope we don't pick him. The fact that Galchenyuk can miss the greater part of the year and still be considered up there is awesome. He played well upon his return, in spite of being nowhere near at the level of others who had played the season. Then he comes out and dominates the testing. I've been saying it for a couple months that this is the kid I really want. I could give two flying (frank)s about Plekanec, Eller and Desharnais. You get to draft 3rd, you take the best player available period. And to me that is NOT Forsberg. Just my opinion.

In terms of Therrien, I think it's a good stop-gap option. Roy isn't ready and needs more vets when he finally makes the jump to the big time. With mics in his face, he'll eventually start publicly blasting players and that's the last thing you need on a rebuilding squad. Therrien will do it, but not all the time. He'll show the kids the work ethic required at this level, then his message will get old and he'll be replaced. I don't see it as a terrible hire. I'm not his biggest fan but to me Crawford would be far more scary.

As for those asking for stability, well consider than 2 years is basically the average life-span of a coach in today's NHL. And consider also that NONE of the mentioned options were real candidates for a long tenure. Here's hoping there are more viable options in 2-3 years time!

I wouldn't be surprised if the habs drop down in the draft and take Trouba.

While I love everything I hear about him, the idea of the habs dropping down to pick a dman just doesnt make sense.

This is only acceptable based on the condition of what else is coming our way. Presumably, we'd have to be talking with someone in the top 10 in order to still have Trouba on the board. Any of them have something else that they'd be willing to part ways with in order to move up?

That's the other part. Anything lower than 6 and you risk him being gone. If he does get picked up in the top 5, then there's going to be one of Galchenyuk, Forsberg, Grigorenko still available anyways so it's not a huge loss.

3rd overall and a 4th for Ducks 6th and a 2nd?

the canadiens will draft a centre. it's their biggest area of need and grigorenko or galchenyuk will be available. no way they trade down. as for a wing to play with plekanec, they'll have to trade for one or sign a ufa.

i don't think this last round of talks with roy was about becoming head coach. if i'm the canadiens brass, i pick his brains about grigorenko. galchenyuk is the safe pick but grigorenko could be a home run. no one knows him better than roy.

how many people would be fine with trading plekanec (plus if needed) to get the 4th overall pick from nyi, suck next season, and get another good draft pick next year. you could form an entire talented top line by doing so.

It's a really weak draft this year but prices will be just as high for top 5 picks, no reason to sell the farm for players projected to be top 6 forwards with possible top 3.

Last year's draft class would probably 8 of the top 10 picks this year if the drafts were combined...
