Good thing Philly got rid of Carter and Richards...

Would the Flyers have dealt both Richards and Carter directly to LA for Simmons, Schenn, Voracek and the #8 pick? Probably not because the optics on that kind of deal do not look too good from a Flyer perspective. So, no doubt, the follow up deal by Columbus and LA causes short term heartburn for the Flyers. It creates a false perspective that Holmgren got smoked by the Kings.

This is merely a temporary flashpoint. The Flyers had a great season. They are set up to be an elite team for many years to come. It is petty to knock either Richards or Carter at this point. That ship sailed a long time ago. Last night LA played New Jersey. The Flyers were not on the ice. No need to create ghosts where they did not exist before.

The only reason I'm not rooting for frick and frack is that the media here are too stupid to know who Jonathan Quick, Anze Kopital, Dustin Brown, and Drew Doughty are, so they'll jump all over the Flyers would have had a cup nonsense. They're not known here for any real understanding of or appreciation for hockey outside of Mr. Meltzer.

Columbus just can't win. I lived there for three years and its a great sports town. For almost nothing to show for it, the team still gets decent support. Awful drafting, awful management, terrible luck, awful tragic events (espen knutson). and now, the trade to LA. they gave up voracek and the 8th for johnson and the probable 30th. they just cant win. I hope they start fresh after the nash trade, get e decent goalie, and rebuild with this draft.

Wait...Mike Richards was OK with going to LA but Jeff Carter was not happy going to Columbus after signing a deal that he thought would finish his career in Philly? Even Columbus' face of the franchise who makes 7mil+ doesn't want to be there.

I really think all this Carter hate is ridiculous. Yes, he definitely could have handled the trade to Columbus better, but that was some serious BS that Philly pulled. All signs seem to point to Philly shopping Carter even before they signed that 11 year deal with him. Shady at best if that is the case.

The complaint I hear most often about the whole Columbus fiasco is just what was said here; Carter didn't put any effort in for the Blue Jackets and he wasn't professional about the trade. Bottom line is a NHL player is paid for results, not off-ice drama. Yeah, Carter didn't put up the numbers Columbus wanted/expected him to, but neither did Nash. The whole team had a terrible year, so to say that Carter was the only one who wasn't putting in any effort is weak. He also was injured for a bit too. If Columbus or anyone else wants to gripe about Carter's durability, fine. Understandable. But he just signed a contract for essentially the rest of his career with a team that may (or may not) have told him he wasn't going to get traded, then is shipped out to the worst team in the west right before his NTC kicks in. To expect him to be excited, or even happy, about that is too much. Again, he could have had a better attitude about the whole thing, but to EXPECT it from him is wrong. Columbus would have loved to see that, but all he owed them was effort and points, which they got. They're expectations were just WAY too high if they thought he would be happy about the trade and that he, a single player, would somehow fix the mountain of problems that team had/has.

Could be worse. They could have that long term contract and NOT be winning right now. ::cough::Luongo::cough::

you obviously misinterpreted what I meant? The jist of the comment was, who cares how long his contract is for. He's helping the Kings win NOW!!!

It's a nice arena and a cool area around the Brewery district and Arena District.

I hope they turn it around. Ohio has loyal sports fans. They need something to get excited about.

move Nash and make the sum of the parts better. He asked to get out, so move his ass!

Now, with all that said, I find some of the postgame fawning over Carter to be somewhat comical.

Not that it matters and not to take anything away from Carter BUT, the puck definitely looked like it was redirected and looking at Brodeur's reaction I'm pretty sure it was. Three replay angles showed nothing definitive but the one angle that was closest looked like the puck deflected off another Kings' players' skate or a Devils stick.

The goal was totally ALL EFFORT by Carter and a lesson in why you never stop moving and putting yourself in position to be in the play.

First off I AM a Blues Fan!!

This whole Carter fiasco has sickend me from day one. He whinded aout being traded from Philly. Had to take a few day to "stomach" the trade. Played himself off their team. Played a perfect blueprint as to how to get traded. I am NOT a CBJ fan but they got screwed over. While JJ is a awesome defenseman, Cater and this status of shi(f)t of his life is just silly.

To me he is a quitter, a whiner and a typical non hockey pro sports player. Fr the most part ther pros have a passion for the game. THE GAME! Its not about me or the money like in other sports. You see game in and out they play hurt with broken bones and come back out and not miss a shift. REAL mans game. To play soft and t half speed to you get with your buddy(CBJ did him a favoer in getting him back with his party boy) is obtuse at best.

Carter, YOU'RE a LOSER if though the Kings will win the cup! you deserver to be boo'd by EVERY hockey fan out side of LA!!

Although I was very disappointed in the way he handled the trade (I understand his being disappointed and even angry with the Flyers, but that doesn't justify the unprofessional way he dealt with it toward the Jackets), don't assume he dogs it. Guy played in 2009 playoffs with a separated shoulder (a very painful injury) and played in the 2010 playoffs on two broken feet. He's also said to be playing now with an injury.

"Respect your fellow HockeyBuzzers
No name calling. And you’re not being clever if you say “any moron knows” or “only an idiot doesn’t understand.” You’re being disrespectful. Talk more about hockey and less about each other. Although playful banter is allowed, that does not mean anything goes, if the banter breaks any part of the code of conduct, it isn’t playful and it is not acceptable. When “Player X stinks" turns into "You stink" you've crossed the line. And yes, the Moderators decide where the line is. "

Quoting a movie to call someone a name isn't clever. If your post is deleted and you were not banned, instead of whining about it, post something hockey-related.
