Kane would have to waive his NTC, correct? Would he to go to NYI, Anaheim, Columbus? Highly doubt it. Montreal? Probably not. Boston? As a previous poster mentioned, unlikely being from Buff.
What about Kane for Jordan Staal, if Pitt decides to move him?
On D without Montador, Bryan Allen would be my first choice to replace him. - Quetzalcoatl
Staal would be a Hawk for a year. Many rumors out there he wants to join one of his brothers. |

Some nice reading from Hockey's Future, who ranks the Hawks organization's prospects 6th in the league. Tallon's Panthers are ranked 1st!!

That is all fine and dandy, buuuuut they didn't even mention Danault as a top 5 prospect..a guy who had a very good season, and many believe is already ahead of McNeil...I guess QMJHL players really do not get the rep they deserve,I remember Al and JJ mentioning it's all a bunch of OHL political garbage |

JJ Any chance Tavares or Martin get offered for Kane? - southernhawk
Man, would Tavares be sweet. If Snow traded JT to us for Kane (amongst other pieces) I think he would be tarred and feathered. |

I would say that deal has no chance.
Tavares is a true center and looks like a game changer to me...Now the NYI need to find one more stud to go along with him..

The Kane stuff is really getting annoying. I heard on the radio that Hawks brass approached ol' Poppa Kane about talking to his son and Poppa wasn't interested. Apparently everything is fine according to the Kane clan. So hopefully a few trade rumors around the draft maybe put a "No, we're dead serious about this" message that finally registers with ol' Humpty Hump.
I thought last year Hjalmarsson was a good fit for Edmonton last year and I still feel that way. But after listening to "Insider Trading" on TSN last night. I wonder if Calgary might not be a destination. Calgary will definetly be shredding payroll, and Hammer's 3.5 is much lighter than Jay Boumeister's 6+ hit. But signing Oduya to 3 frickin years probably puts the kaibosh on that. Leddy and Olsen kind of assures that, even if, Hammer is traded and Montador retires or is on LTIR, there's still a good 5 D men kind of locked up and any addition would be the one year awfulness of Eaton or Hannon.....Yick!
Well. I'll wait till after the Stanley Cup before I start worrying about any of it. |

Not the bible, but some fun reading........ Yea, the OHL is thought of as the top junior league in the world with the WHL thought of as a big physical defensive minded league and the QMJHL a no defense nintendo type numbers league.
Love what Tallon has been able to do in such a short time in Florida. That's on top of making the playoffs this year.

The latest rumor I know of is there is no chance in hell that Staal is traded to the Hawks as a pens fan,and even though they won the Cup a few years ago and have a very successful team, and Staal is a very good player,Do you ever think:Jeez we could have had Toews instead of Staal |

Oh don't get me wrong or anything,I appreciate the link and like reading stuff like that, but like you said it's not the Bible, more like guidelines on who should/could turn out to be good players...The best part is all of the top 10 teams have been awful for the last 5 years or longer except the Wings Hawks and Preds...So when someone tells me:The Hawks don't have a Huberdeau in their system! My counter argument is usually: Well they haven't sucked enough the last 5 years for them to get the third pick in the draft! |

Maybe some Malnottis, Uno's might seal the deal? We would offer up Al's, but they would wanna put ketchup on the hot dogs. |

Really? A stay the course summer???wtf?! I thought Rocky wanted to win??
I' telling you guys,McD or Bowman is Grima Wormtongue and Rocky is Theoden, and they are convincing him to buy into this prospect draft pick b.s. instead of win now...This team is turning into a joke again - captainserious
That "prospect draft pick b.s." is what brought the Blackhawks back to relevancy. I assume you are one of many 'fans' who began cheering for the Hawks within the past 5 years or so, or else you would recognize the importance of prospects and draft picks. If you don't like it cheer for another team. |

This team right now does not need more picks. They have the frame work to win and need to acquire talent for deep playoff runs. Toews is a hall of fame talent that needs the best supporting cast possible. If the Hawks move Kane they need impact now players in return not picks/prospects. |

I have no problem with what you posted because as long as it is not rude you are allowed to,but I have been a Blackhawks fan all of my life, and read and watched what I could during the good times and the awful times too..so right there you are wrong big time...And waiting years for prospects to develop isn't going to lead this team anywhere,I am not for gutting this team's farm at all,but realistically not all of these kids are gonna have a spot in the lineup even if by some chance they all do pan out.So why wouldn't you send a few prospects and a draft pick or player somewhere for a proven player that has been in the league for 4-5 years? |

any hints at the Montreal deal?....its hard to see their deal being as good as a deal centered around Ryan/Getzlaf or Nash - hawks1921
Gonna hold off, as far as a player named, it came from a sketchy source, but I have heard of discussions between the two teams around Kane from more than one source |

The difference is that the picks they got 5+ years ago were the result of being so abysmal for the prior ten plus years that they always got to pick high and get guys like Toews and Kane.
When your first round pick is now at best around 20th, the talent pool dissipates pretty quickly. Not one of the centers in the system now projects to be anything better than borderline 2C, most of the forwards are not ever going to be marquis top six guys, and the D corps is really bottom pairing caliber right now.
Apples and oranges. But you have to try and win when the top tier talent is with the big club.

You are missing the forest for the trees. And it is b.s.. Here's why:
The Cup Team and what led up to it is what made the Hawks relevant.
Campbell, Huet, Niemi, Madden, Sopel were all acquired as free agents.
Sharp, Eager. Ladd and Havlat were acquired in trade.
For every Dustin Byfuglien (9th round, 2003), Troy Brouwer (7th round, 2004), Niklas Hjalmarsson (4th round, 2006), Duncan Keith (2nd round, 2002), and Dave Bolland (2nd round, 2004)there was a Ryan Garlock, Michael Blunden, Igor Makarov, Adam Berti, Akim Aliu, Bill Sweatt— ALL second round picks made since 2004.
Kane, Toews and Seabrook were first round hits. Anton Babchuk, Jack Skille, Cam Barker and Kyle Beach were not. The jury is out on Dylan Olsen and Kevin Hayes. Your first round picks need to be hits more often than misses.
Accumulating draft picks at best is like buying more lottery tickets.
To say accumulating draft picks made the Hawks relevant again is wrong. No, sucking big time for years and getting a couple of top 3 picks HELPED make the Hawks relevant again. And the stronger argument is 3-4 shrewd trades did as much or more to make the Hawks relevant again.
Stockpiling picks that are fairly sure to be in the latter part of their rounds, when your team is poised for the playoffs every year is weak and short-sighted. Great GMs (like Ken Holland) make strong moves to win it all when they have a shot. And they're still there year after year.
