Your saying Howson wouldn't do that? The same Howson that currently has Wiz and Tyutin signed to an almost identical combined cap hit that the Hawks have Keith and Seabrook signed to? The same Howson who went into last season with his tentative goalie tandem as Steve Mason and Mark Dekanich?

You give him way to much credit.

That's a bad deal for Columbus. Hey he got a great deal for Jeff Carter.

But if as reported, Bolland is truly a Q guy, Bolland's availability status may have changed since then.
- Ogilthorpe2

I heard it did when Q agreed to stay. He's keeping the guys he wants . . . hopefully it won't include the Human Glacier.

Just read the blog ... but I'm curious ...

Are there any players that Columbus and NYI aren't trying to acquire???

The hope is that that creativity translates. If not, he will still be a more then serviceable player, which is all you can really hope for now a days with a low first rounder.

From what I heard....Danault's puck pursuit was Toews like and that is high praise.

I dont think it's a bad deal what so ever. You just likely consider Nash a better player then I do, so arguing that back and forth could go all day. Agree to disagree.

Jeff Carter is also a proven scorer and on a much more reasonable deal. I compare a potential Nash deal to what Danny Heatley got, which was basically just Milan Michalek.

Nash isn't as accomplished as Danny Heatley, and is roughly the same age that Heatley was when he left Ottawa. Their deals are pretty close to.

Even if you look at the deal Heatley turned down of Cogliano, Smid, and 1st from Edmonton, your telling me that Hammer, Bolland, and Frolik is a bad deal for Dorsett and Nash? So maybe you throw them a 2nd or Pirri, I dont offer anything else. (frank) that.

As previously stated, we have used the same trainer. I still do. Couldn't tell you how many times Vince has told me this kid is going to be an NHLer strictly based on his drive to be one. He want's to be a professional hockey player more then anything in this world, and you see it in his play.

Columbus would never do that . . . in . . . a . . . million . . . years.
- John Jaeckel

Yea, i thought that proposal was absurd. They are sending out a former #1 overall pick and potential 50 goal scorer on the right team IMO and the best they are getting back is a 3rd line center, a fringe 4/5 dman, and an underacheiving bottom 6 winger?

My friend does a great job of covering the Ice Hogs and he was more impressed with Danault than any player in Rockford this season.

He says that he wouldn't be surprised if Daneault could fill in for Bolland in October...He feels he is a definite NHL 3rd line checking center and my buddy is hard to impress. ..

Especially if you can land a proven 2nd line C and an upgrade as a fourth line C to win draws and kill PKs then the risk of having someone like Danault (or Kruger for that matter) becomes much less.

Personally, I think Danault can be a 2nd line C in a couple of years.

I don't think they would do it either but Hammer wouldn't be a fringe 4/5 dman there.

The more I think about it, not saying in a heartbeat, but if the hawks can get the right return, they should trade Kane.

Not only for the off ice antics, locker room distractions, and lack of physical play from him, but this recurring issues sounds the alarm the most to me in the department of lack of drive or off ice work ethic to improve himself as a player. Guys like Kruger, Toews, and Seabrook are working themselves like mad men in the offseason to add size, strength, speed, etc.

Then you have Kane. Toews picks up the newspaper on a summer double session workout day and he reads Kane gets busted for a keg party or something.

If im upper management, I read this as a kid not doing his individual effort to contribute improving this team as a whole

Definitely debatable. But the Heater has been surrounded by some pretty elite talent his entire career in ATL, OTT, and SJS, hell, he even has Mikko Koivu in MIN right now.

The best player Nash has ever lined up next to is who? Umberger, Huseilius, Brassard, Vermette, Malhotra?

With the exception of MIN, Heatley has played with future HOF'ers on every team. Nash hasnt even played with all stars on a team before

And I'm sure everyone in that locker room - even the younger ones - have seen and shared a locker room with worse.

Just as we shouldn't assume all are best friends, we probably shouldn't assume they are at each others throats over Kane's behavior.
