If TO knew how to develope goalies they would have a bright future in reimer and/or scrivens..

trade proposals are awful here. pens need to win now, so draft picks / distant prospects out. would require a replacement third line center and a top 3 d-man. ennis and a d-man? hodgson and a d-man? Just looked at buffalo roster... no d-man I'd want back thats not myers and he's too much to ask for. tough to make a trade with buffalo work. and leafs fans... NOBODY including yourselves wants kadri! your like pushy rummage salesman! staal would require gardiner, and bozak and armstrong, you also take martin. people would say that the pens are aasking for too much. but they can. they hold the cards... how many other top talents avaiable for center this year?

My Thoughts- a decent little trade, but I'm not sure the Av's are ready to give up on Duchene just yet. Stastny would be the guy to target if you want a good centre out of Colorado. Roy and a 1st may land him if you're prepared to take back the difference in salary.

I'd take Duchene over Stastny...
1) last thing we need is another terrible contract
2) stastny appears to be declining
3) while stastny certainly could rebound and get back to the kind of production that got him this big contract, Duchene is only 21 and I feel has more potential to be GREAT... There's a reason he was picked 3rd overall... And I'd say this season (plagued by injury) is the exception, not the rule... Stastny has scored under 25 goals now for 4 straight seasons
4) even if we agreed Stasty's contract was worth his output (which I don't)... We've gotta make room somehow that could IMO be better served elsewhere...
Duchene in still so young that he will be restricted still for years & thus cheaper
5) Duchene being so young fits nicely into our roster as part of the NEXT "core" whereas Stastny would fit more in w vanek, Pommer, etc...
I'd rather add in a guy that can grow with ennis, Foligno, Hodgson, Myers, McNabb, era

I don't watch a ton of AVs hockey, but I've certainly never notices him out there banging around like he's Dustin Brown or something...

Also look at the talent on the team in 10/11 and 11/12. The wingers for the most part are well below avg.
