the guy has averaged 50 pts a year the last 3 years
NO WAY IS HE A #1
oh my f***ing god there isnt even a debate and dont even start with the "well he played on the third line" argument
this has leino written all over it again

You have to keep in mind that he has averaged 50 points with 3rd line minutes. When Crosby and Malkin were injured his production went up accordingly. He is as good as a Ryan Callahan or Dustin Brown, both number ones on most teams!

For a while he was on pace for 40 goals this year. He's only 23 years old, he hasn't plateaued yet offensively. I can't agree with the third line minutes part of it though, Crosby only played 20 something games, Staal played a great deal of minutes. It's just that his PP time isn't quite as high as it should be IMO.

Would Nik Kulemin, Luke Schenn and Tyler Biggs get it done? - steve362
Schenn and Michalek are close to the same player so Pittsburgh doesn't have a need there and Kulemin Just came off a 7 goal 28 point season. I honestly don't even know who Tyler Biggs is, is he Jason Biggs brother? Is Nadia part of the trade?
Toronto has literally nothing Pittsburgh needs. They are even a worse match than Buffalo.

Tyler Biggs was Toronto's first overall pick last season at number 22. He captained the US under 18 team last year and has been playing in College; he will soon be making the move to the CHL. he is 6'2 205lbs and turned 19 April 30th.
Luke Schenn is 7 years younger than Michalek and speculation from TSN has Michalek being traded - likely to Ottawa.
Kulemin did have an off year but he has played with Malkin and is great friends with him. They were linemates and roommates while playing for Magnitogorsk. I'm sure Malkin would love to have his buddy playing with him and if Kule was on the pens he would almost certainly come back to form.
Stall is a big, strong 2-way center that the Leafs despretley need!

Stafford and Parise are good friends, doesnt mean Parise is coming to Buffalo

I never said they were definitely going to be NHL teammates because of that - but If you think that players don't take these things into consideration then you'd be wrong. It certainly wouldn't hinder the trade.
There are plenty of good prospects and picks to be had... Dallas is looking to make a splash. Staal fits the perfect Dallas mold of a two way player - puckheadjoe
I assume because the Pens are in a "win now" era of the franchise that they would want a good roster player in return. Maybe a Steve Ott or even Brendan Morrow

And what makes you think that would be the best deal on the table for the Penguins? Sorry, just another in the long line of really bad Leaf proposals for Jordan Staal.

He has avg almost 20mins per game over the last 5 years. Can we please stop saying 3rd line mins?
