Wayne Gretzky put Orr, Robinson, Lidstrom and Coffey all in the same company. I think you are too young to know how great Big Bird was.
- OilHorse

Its not a slight to say a player isnt as good as lidstrom.

Hes one of the top few defencemen that ever lived.
I just dont see robinson in that truly elite, dominant class.
Im not even sure he was the best dman on his own team for some of those dominant hab years... let alone their best player.

Dont get me wrong, Robinson was a great player. Big, mobile, intelligent.. But lidstrom is in another class imo. The best of his generation. Might have been the best player at his position every year for 15 seasons.

Not stoked on the age argument either. I dont need to be 50 to think that lidstrom might only be eclipsed by bobby orr.
Also,
Gretzky was the greatest player that ever lived. That doesnt neccasarily mean he was the best judge of talent though.
See phoenix coyotes under his tenure. And yes, he absolutely had say in player acquisitions/drafting.

Lets not turn this into a gretz debate though.
Im only saying lidstrom might be the greatest dman ever.
And least on the very shortlist. Robinson is not on that list imo.

Just listened to Hartley interview, asked about if the Flames need a rebuild, and he said after talking to ownership and management that the word 'rebuild' is not in their vocabulary and they are gonna go for it.... again.

After the Combine, Yakupov is going back to Edmonton to spend two or three days meeting the owner, the players, etc.

He is, at this time, the only prospect being invited to do this.

Whichever team picks #1, will take Yakupov. Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves...

Anyway...

@GinoRedaTSN: 1-on-1 with Nicklas Lidstrom on That's Hockey today. Asked him who was harder to play against Gretzky or Lemiuex? Who do you think he said?

Soooooo does that mean Gretzky?

@markhmasters: Not surprisingly Nail Yakupov said every team asked him about the KHL; I asked him if he was annoyed by the ?s: 'No' followed by a big grin

@markhmasters: Finished scrum w Nail Yakupov & was reviewing the video on the cam when I got a tap on my shoulder; it was Yakupov wanting to see how he did

Put Gretzky in today's era with all of todays advantages that you listed above and he'd just be hat much better. Even in a high scoring era, nobody was anywhere near his level. You're an attention seeking troll, and this is the last of mine you'll get you moron.
- TheTaoOfSemenko

Plus the skates and sticks they use now - Gretzky would score 100 goals easily..

Haha Yakupov is such a beauty.

I think its awesome that there are so many different personalities in the room. My boyfriend Nuge is shy, Yakupov is outgoing, Eberle is witty, and hall is a douche.

Thats a good dynamic to have.

So true! But haven't you heard? We're trading Yakupov + Marincin + a 4th rounder for E. Kane.

I agree though... After reading some of Hall's tweets, he does seem like a douche from time to time.

No Nuge is a level above the other 3 in terms of man love.

If Kane and Hall were on the same team it would be on the level of Carter and Richards with the partying.

I have to admit, I absolutely love the Nuge now too... I adore him for being so quiet and grounded. He's probably my favorite Oiler.

My affection for him was warranted.

You've come to terms with it now so I'm proud.
