They're also stupid for trying to build a team around him. He's the wrong player at the wrong time. That's why it makes more sense for the Leafs to trade him and start over.

But back to Stastny. He has tremendous two-way ability. If he scores 70+ points a year and plays the two-way style that he plays, he's worth every penny. Strength up the middle is way more important than a scoring winger. Strength at center wins you games and wins you championships. Look at the depth Boston had last year up the middle. That's worth spending the money on.

I agree, we are past the stage of rebuilding, technically we are still rebuilding, we have youth and prospects and our 1st rounders, though we still want to be competitive. We are not a team like the islanders or edmonton who tanks for the sake of tanking to obtain good players each year. Its a mix of both for us at this point in time and its about getting players for the right pricee without giving up the world.

For Stewart for some reason I see MacArthur as the major piece. So
MacArthur + Franson for Stewart (over payment for a high risk high reward player).

Seems a bit much for Stastny, Scrivens alone would be a major piece. However Varlamov is everything they were hoping for and should we trade for Luongo I can't see us keeping Reimer. Scrivens stays is what I'm saying.
2nd + Connolly (replaces Stastny basically) + Kadri for Stastny (I feel Stastny is not likely btw)

Now, as for Luongo
Riemer + Armstrong + Komisarek for Luongo + some sort of salary
