Well you just wrecked him.
- Unholy_Goalie

You should be used to getting wrecked.

Done talking out of your ass yet?

We all know you've never watched him play, but you're so easy to say it was a mistake trade up for him.

Of course, you're a liar. So we're not surprised.

Too easy.

Maybe. Maybe not, depend how desperate a gm is for a young center like Staal. And how many players like him actually hit the market to begin with. Bidding war could certainly drive his price.
- robin_steele264

Bidding war or not, name the 50 point players who get 7 million dollar contracts? He might get a 7 million dollar salary somewhere in there but his cap hit won't be 7 million a year. It would take an extremely desperate GM to sign that deal. Especially if the new CBA is designed to cut back player salaries.

The whole point of acquiring guys like luongo, guys like stasny, guys like a chris stewart or a signing of justin schultz which is a no brainer is to REMAIN competitive and keep our prospects, keep our first rounders, and keep everything we have left to make our players grow in our system. This is why trading for the likes of getzlaf or a rick nash makes no sense. Best road is to go down an inexpensive road but burke knows he did mess up and did not know it would be this hard with his original plan and i give him that though he did alot of good for us for a longer run. Kessel trade dont even bring up, kessel can get a HUGE return for us with his statistics WITHOUT a centerman.

With prospects like: kadri, mckegg, our first rounder 2012, percy, biggs, brad ross, matt frattin, jerry damigo, blacker, carter ashton, colborne, owuya, we have a good pool of players since the marlies are indeed in the finals for the AHL. Pretty sure burke has done some good for our youth.

I agree. He could get 7 million tops. But I think he'll get around 6 million on the open market.

They could trade him and get a solid return to balance out their lineup, though.

For example, they could trade him to Chicago for a guy like Bolland+

He was a freshman playing on the third line.. lmao What did you expect?
- jbold

They'll find a way to move one of those bad contracts they have on defense, either Martin or Michalek and probably give Crosby a retirement contract that will keep the cap hit under control. Unless something drastically changes, they have had years to plan it out. Chances are they'll be fine, just the Oilers will be when their time comes to sign their big guys.

"He’s primarily seen time on Miami’s second line, and saw more and more power player play time as the season went along. "

Meaning he was basically a tweener between the 2nd and 3rd line.

He played on the 2nd line, but was also shifted to the 3rd line often.

Boy, you get owned, again.

now....dont read toooooo much into that

our coach has to be wise with his words because he wants to keep recruiting 1st rd prospects like this kid

if he badmouths or attempts to talk these kids into staying at miami instead of whats in the best interest of the player...it looks bad to potential recruits

the way blasi handled this situation was spectacular imo....we have another ridiculous freshman class coming in this year as well....hes done a great job at targeting top notch talent

Funny UG.

You had to look up what line Biggs played on.

Pretty much tells me that you've never seen him play before. But yet, you have so much to say about him.

It's definitely in his best interest to say nice things about him. Given his size and physicality, chances are, he'll make the NHL, especially on a Burke team where he is desperately seeking big bodies. But without the talent, it's going to be tough for him to be on the top two lines. Seems like a Chad Kilger or Kyle Clifford type but more physical.

Stewart they might get cheap, but Stastny is not going to be cheap. Really doubt Colorado wants to trade their #1 center.

duchenes their number one center now just to make that clear. Colorado has alot of signings to do this summer and it starts with matt duchene. Which could very make stasny expendable. Matt duchene will get a salary close to tavares if not a bit less.
