No vokoun, No Luongo, No Lindback or Harding. Scrivens and Reimer let them learn the job properly. And if the team is doing really bad then just tank all the way to MacKinnon! don't hit the panic button and overpay for has-been and what ifs!

It would be absolutely horrible. Words can't even begin to describe.

I'd be happy with it if we took Kassian/Raymond/Lapierre off them, preferably Kassian.

This site has Grigorenko described as a Joe Thornton/Alex Kovalev/Evgeny Malkin mix. Wouldn't be too bad if he reached that kind of potential.

My point is this, in a nutshell: We are not in the same class as those upper echelon teams at this point, BUT, I FEEL (opinion alert) they are not as far away as you think they are. I don't believe a total rebuild is necessary at this point.

You know that's not going to happen. They've already said they want to improve the goaltending position. But even if they don't, you know we won't finish dead last. We're not that bad.

If we get Luongo, I will never come back on HBuzz. The circular arguments will hit a new height and the trolling will begin in epic proportions from all fanbases, including the Leafs.
- wendel13

At first, the homers would love it because Luongo would probably allow the Leafs to squeak into 8th place. But after the honeymoon is over, it would get pretty disastrous. Especially when he hits his late 30s.

Luckily, Burke hates those contracts. That's our hope that he stays the hell away from Luongo.

I was reading an article about an interview that he had at the combine when the team asked him about his laziness and lack of heart, and he said "did you watch me play"? And they said no and he replied well their you go.nthe kid has heart I meen anyone who played the last month of the season and playoffs with mono and taking all the negative criticism has heart in my opinion

I'll take any original idea from you at this point.
- Pen15

Trade the following or send to AHL:

Armstrong (probably get a 3rd rounder out of him, I don't even know)
MacA (late 1st rounder more probable 2nd round pick)
Lombardi (burried in the minors)
Dupuis (burried in the minors)
Komisarek (I think something can be done with Colorado or NYI)
Franson (we're going to have to much offensive dmen with Phaneuf, Liles, Gardiner as the QB's so he would see very limited time in general and on the PP. we can easily get a mid 1st for him or some depth in bottom 6 role players)
Connolly (trade him for a bag of air)

Extend contracts to:

Kulimen - 2years at 2.8M/per
Frattin - 2 years at 1.7M/per

Sign the following:

Tootoo - 2 year at 2M/per
Gaustad - 2 years at 1.75M/per
Kelly - 3 years at 1.65M/per
Jackman - 2 years at 3.4M/per
Harding - 2 years at 2.5M/per

Take a hack at Suter but if he signs elsewhere try Jackman and if Jackman doesn't work go for Carle. Doesn't matter if they are signed it just never hurts to add stud defensemen for nothing but money.

Promote Frattin, Kadri and Colborne up to the majors to see how they can handle it. If none of Suter, Carle or Jackman sign than we have Holzer who can come up. Put Komarov in the minors and let him come up if when the aging Thornton gets injured.

Finished product going into the 2012/2013 season:

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Bozak is a 3rd line center but in the past couple of years he has really learned how to play with Kessel. Don't mess with it if it's working.

Kadri-Grabovski-Kulimen
Fact is that Kulimen is gonna go for another 25+ goal season. With this line you get - from left to right, skill and creativity, speed and scoring, powerhorse and excellent board working.

I like that line already.

Tootoo-Colborne-Frattin
Two very energetic, hitting and ability to put in afew on the sides with a skyscraper in the middle. Should jell perfectly.

Brown-Gaustad-Kelly
OUCH and clutch are the two first words that come to mind. With Mueller ready to take over in case of emergency, this is a very good fourth line.

Reimer/Harding/Scrivens in net. I'd let the coaches decide on that one.

With the demotions, promotions, trades, signings our salary overall salary will be $53,673,333 which will give us money to throw at people all over the place.

Stop it just stop! You keep putting this idea into Burke's head and he might improve the goaltending situation and then finish 10th.

I agree, I find it funny that so many people have these strong opinions on prospects they have never seen play. The Russian argument has started to border or racism in some cases. There are very few cases of the best Russian players leaving to the KHL. Datsyuk, Fedorov, LArionov, Malkin, Ovechkin, Markov, Gonchar, Yashin (when he was good). The point is these guys stick around when they are good, its when they are busts that they try and cash in the big bucks in their homeland. Can you blame them?

I think this is the year where Burke takes the Lowe and Tambe model but without saying so. He doesn't sign any UFA goalies. Let's Owuya take care of minors and have Scrivens and Reimer up here. He trades all the dead weight for late round picks and promotes kids. Signs Schultz. The team plays well, good. They suck, well we get to pick to 3 and the kids have learned and earned their leafs and are ready for next year. I want this to happen!

He is? Oh yeah, him and Boyce. I'd resign Boyce for the AHL. A great alternative for Tootoo would be Paille.

I'm stating that in the odd scenario that Lu makes his way to Toronto. If we could grab Kassian that would be excellent. Just being optimistic and stupid like everyone else.
