Faith in the fact there are some good things about this team and that your opinion is just that...opinion. Just like anyone else's.
No, but who's to say they couldn't. They made it that far, why not further? Only one team can win.
And no, our core group is not better than that of those teams. That's not my argument. My argument is that that is not the be all end all to win a championship. The supporting cast and goaltending has as much to do, if not more, as them to win a Cup. It's unlikely, but not impossible.....and the FACT that we were in a playoff position in February tells me there's no reason to believe that with a few solid pieces and good goaltending, we couldn't reach that level. That's my opinion. Disagree with it if you want, but you can't tell me I'm wrong because it's MY OPINION. - Phenom
You are correct. UG should become a habs fan with his constant ripping of the Leafs. You don't have to be biased, but you don't have to hate 24/7 on everything Burke does either. |

There was never a doubt TB was out of that race. They can't move Vinny's deal, don't want to move Malone(Don't ask why) and as far as I'm concerned, if Vokoun was willing to go to WSH for 1.5 then surely he'd go back to florida for the same chance to win at a reasonable price.
3 yr, 11m
either way I have both Vokoun to TB and Lu to TOR at 80%. I just can't imagine scenarios where either two end up anywhere else - AngryWhiteMale
I wouldn't mind Vokoun signing here for a year or two to give Reims some support while he (hopefully) regains the form he had before he got hurt. |

There's nothing special about this team especially compared to contenders. Considering you have to beat the other teams to win, it's important that faith be based on fact, not blind hope. Fact is, the Leafs core are nowhere near the contenders in this league.

That's right. Only one team wins. All the more proof for my side of the argument which is this team has an inadequate core of players to compete. The more you compare them to other teams the more you realize how far behind they really are. And don't try the "they're almost a playoff team" argument. It doesn't work. Making the playoffs and being a contender are two different things.
And no, our core group is not better than that of those teams. That's not my argument. My argument is that that is not the be all end all to win a championship.
Is that right? How many Cup winners you see with a weak core?

Being in the playoffs in February is irrelevant. Minnesota was in 1st place at one point. The season is 82 games long. Not 20 games or 41 games or 81 games.
Reaching "that level" is unattainable without a solid core of players which the Leafs do not have. Hence the need to rebuild and not scratch and claw for 8th place. |

And this is why you will NEVER be satisfied with anything this team does short of winning 5 Cups in a row. Gardiner is nothing special, Kessel is nothing special, etc......
OMG.... Leave it to you to tell me to base my faith on facts and not hope. FAITH IS HOPE!!!!
My point is this, in a nutshell: We are not in the same class as those upper echelon teams at this point, BUT, I FEEL (opinion alert) they are not as far away as you think they are. I don't believe a total rebuild is necessary at this point. |

If we get Luongo, I will never come back on HBuzz. The circular arguments will hit a new height and the trolling will begin in epic proportions from all fanbases, including the Leafs. |

I thought I just explained why. Burke and Nonis have already said they're going to look for help in that area. Vokoun would be a good, cheap short-term solution....if Burke still feels Reimer will be the number one he was projected to be before his injury last season. And if the alternative is Luongo, I'll take Vokoun in a heartbeat. |
