Why trade a 31 year old for a 1st when you can give him an extension and a NTC while he has a concussion?

You want my idea on how to make the Leafs a cup contending team or my idea on how to make Leafs fans as a whole smarter?

Hey all fellow Hockey Buzzers!
I have a totally off topic question for you all. First let me explain. I am married to an amazing wife and I am father of three wonderful kids. I have recently become unemployed as the factory I worked at has shut down and moved to the U.S.
I have never been affraid of hard manual work as I grew up on a farm. It's pretty much all I know. I never went to college and have worked in a factory since I was 18.
I'm 33 years old now and tired of the crap work that most factories have to offer. My wife has recently found new employment as a kitchen manager in a major restaurant. She is getting 40+ hrs a week on the close shift.
My issue is I wish to find a new career away from factory work that Is satisfying, has a deccent wage and is preferably a day shift position. We really don't care to pay for babysitting as it would be counter productive as far as income is concerned.
I guess what I'm asking for is some advice as to what direction I should take. I'm really not sure what is out there for jobs or any small courses I could take that would benefit me in my search for employment. I am aware of al the job search websites and available employment guidance offices. I just want to hear from real people.
Thanks for all you advice and suggestions in advance.

Somehow I think the Lupul Versteeg comarison doesn't hold much water.

If that's what we got for Kris then no Excuses for Joffer....

Philly overpaid on that one clearly. But no. Nobody will ever get traded for that particular package ever again. They closed the vault on that one after the Kessel deal.

Anyone who thinks that we shouldn't get Luongo if the price is truly as low as we can hypothetically believe this summer is nuts.

When Cujo arrived, we really started to figure it out

Belfour was old too and basically slapped Ottawa's gooch with his paddle.

His age is irrelavant, as he has 5-6 more quality years left, and we have one of either Reimer or Scrivens to be a suitable backup for 25-30 games a season
(we shouldn't run Luongo too much, and having a backup emerge as a legit goalie makes him a valuable trade chip.)

Let's face it, the emergence of Luongo as an asset we can acquire, and the position of relative strength TOR has with regards to his trade availability means that the only BIG trade BB does this off season is for Lu. There will be no Nash deal this summer, and as much as I wanted BB to make a push for E. Staal, he's not going anywhere either.

BB knows that goaltending will, at the very least, save his job by virtually guaranteeing a playoff spot. This is still the youngest team in the league. Having confidence in your 'tender did a lot for Ottawa and PHX, so who knows what can happen.

The important thing is that BB figures out cap issues. Any deal with Lu has to include Komisarek. He also needs to dump Connolly somehow to open up a roster spot for a Marlie that desreves to be there.

Add in a new coach who won't put up with the same malarky as RW and anything can happen

At least I have some faith, unlike you who craps all over the team and everything about it and everyone who dares have a differing opinion than you.
- Phenom

Faith in what? A poor excuse of a core that will most likely never actually be a contender?

Would you say Phoenix's core group is better than Vancouver's???
Who went further?

Phoenix didn't win did they? Nope. What are their chances next year? Or the year after that?

That's why it's speculation. It's not a fact that this team hasn't faired well against those others in a playoff series because it HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. And the core players are not the be all end all of a team......as obviously seen in these playoffs. It's a team game and the supporting vast and goaltending are just as important as your core or impact players because more often than not, they go as the team goes....as a whole.

It's not a fact that the Flyers or the Penguins or the Rangers have a better core than the Leafs? Or the Capitals? Or the Bruins? That's not a fact? That's all speculation?

Ever consider applying to a bank?

Teller or a sales trainee program might work. Lots of room for growth too.

There was never a doubt TB was out of that race. They can't move Vinny's deal, don't want to move Malone(Don't ask why) and as far as I'm concerned, if Vokoun was willing to go to WSH for 1.5 then surely he'd go back to florida for the same chance to win at a reasonable price.

3 yr, 11m

either way I have both Vokoun to TB and Lu to TOR at 80%. I just can't imagine scenarios where either two end up anywhere else

Banks are parasites.

Honest work for a guy who clearly prefers working in a manual labour environment.

Trust me, once you're used to physical labour standing in a bank watching the clock go buy and listening to your female co workers gossip will drive you to Kids Help Phone in no time

I hear you....but if the guy is hard working (as his post indicates), he won't be listening to the female co-workers gossip for long.

It was just a suggestion...I work at a bank....it's not THAT bad.

Faith in the fact there are some good things about this team and that your opinion is just that...opinion. Just like anyone else's.

No, but who's to say they couldn't. They made it that far, why not further? Only one team can win.

And no, our core group is not better than that of those teams. That's not my argument. My argument is that that is not the be all end all to win a championship. The supporting cast and goaltending has as much to do, if not more, as them to win a Cup. It's unlikely, but not impossible.....and the FACT that we were in a playoff position in February tells me there's no reason to believe that with a few solid pieces and good goaltending, we couldn't reach that level. That's my opinion. Disagree with it if you want, but you can't tell me I'm wrong because it's MY OPINION.
