He might be willing to make that sacrifice but odds are, as a UFA, he's going to sign with the team that gives him the most playing time. Money is going to be the same across the board so the only real selling points they have are how much he gets to play. If he's with the Marlies, it might not be what he wants. And what he wants, matters.

Also, in the whole Luongo ordeal. I would love to see a team like SJ or Chi (two teams that have NO chance of making a trade with Van) send an RFA offer sheet to Schneider.

If they offered around $4.5M it would only cost a 1st and a 3rd.

It would put the Canucks in a very awkward position. If they choose to match, they're really forced on the Lu situation having over $9.8M in cap space for their goalies. If they don't match, they'll probably end up with a low round first (in the 20s) and a 3rd.

That'll make them more desperate to deal Lu and it would make trading with them easier
