i know LeafMan doesn't make the rules, but ya, that's the dumbest poop i ever heard.

A)Liles was doing as expected before his injury. B)Burke signed him for less than what he was making. C)Not sure trading him was an option, what would his return be as a player that was coming off a concussion. D)IF the Leafs do sign Schultz, he should be treated as any other prospect and not automatically given a roster spot. IF Schultz makes the team, and is better than Liles, then he should be traded.

He's 30 and "doing as expected" is meaningless. He cost us a 2nd round pick which could be better used to draft and help rebuild.

What Burke signed him for is again meaningless. The rebuilding process is about collecting and developing young players. Liles isn't a young player and he cost us an asset. Right now, he should be at the top of the "to be traded" list right next to Komisarek.

I know people like to say having depth is a good thing, and it usually is. But in the case of the Leafs D I actually think its hurting us. Guys like Franson should not be in the press box. And we have a couple of guys like Schenn/Komisarek who only thrive when they play lots of minutes but can't get those minutes due to depth. Its also not fair to a guy like Holzer who may be NHL ready but doesn't look like he stands a chance to make the lineup.

Edit: I know Schenn/Komisarek have been awful, but I do think it is partially due to lack of confidence from a lack of minutes. If it were up to me Komisarek would be gone though.

I like Holzer, but unfortunately he may have more value as trade bait right now as we just don't have room for him unless one or two of Gunnarsson/Franson/Komisarek are moved. I think he will be a good defensive dman with good leadership skills.

Twitter is not a blog site, quoting tweets is not the same thing, major sites like newspapers and MSM sites like TSN are fine. MLHS sites are not, I can't post my own site either.

Honestly .. let's remember injuries happen and having a ton of NHL ready defencemen can never be a bad thing..

If we do sign Schultz, it will make for a very interesting off season.

It will pretty much be guaranteed that Burke would make a move that would involve one of the NHL caliber D. Most likely, it will be a package of players for goaltending help, or a first line centre. That makes things very exciting.
