Huddle's boner is not a written object...unless you're reading the Faksa autograph on it. - AdamFrench
I read a few things about him yesterday.
Him and Gaunce would be sweet.
But for some reason, I see the Leafs taking a Dman |

He probably would from all words spoken (words are wind sure), I find it hard to really judge anything Columbus Blue Jackets. If Rick Nash hadn't told them to pick him first overall in their interview I think their franchise player would be Scottie Upshall. - AdamFrench
Words spoken by draft eligible players are going to be carefully scripted, especially guys that have question marks surrounding them. It's one giant, public job interview. Absolutely nothing they say will indicate whether or not the KHL is an option to them or not.
But we both know, there is going to be a KHL team that drafts him. And if things go poorly (as they usually do in Toronto) there is going to be a voice in his ear and an offer on the table. Actually, I'm pretty sure CSKA Moskva already drafted him last year.
It's a risk. You can try to rationalize it as a minimal risk but it's a risk nonetheless. Right now, the Leafs need some locks, some surefire players and Grigorenko, as you said yourself, could ruin a scout's career. I wish we were in a position where we could take the risk but we're not. |

Sadly, me too. - Scabeh
That makes sense, because from a Leafs perspective I would not do it.
You could see the Habs doing it though. They are weak on D and maybe they would hope Komisarek could line up with Markov and the 2 return to form?

If he wants to keep the bridges intact with Anaheim, offer them a 2nd, or a prospect like Broll or of similar ilk. - p_zub
This or toss them a lopsided trade in their favour as a goodwill gesture that will also deflect any impropriety...same thing as what you said really.. |

I'd hope Colburne gets it together, but as it stands I see him as a fringe 3rd liner.. - IRON.MAIDEN
If he gets better at faceoffs he might be Steckel one day.
Seriously though ...there's a BB quote out there when they get Colborne that he was similar to Steckel. His ceiling is lower then a poopty chinatown basement apartment. |

You remember incorrectly because that never happened.
He's talking about the Schenn draft by the way. He's tried that before. He's wrong. |

For those wondering. The Luongo to Leafs Done Deal began on Twitter from @SamJam99 who blogs on NHLBeat.blogspot.com
It has seemed to be picked up by a number of other sites. Apparently the guy called the Canucks Kassian-Hodgson deal about 30 minutes before any network picked it up. Not sure how people judge the reliability factor but ya. |

You wish I would spend that kind of time on you.
There was Filatov talk before, but you almost barfed all over the place when the sens got him for a 3rd rounder. And yes, we all heard about it for months.
There was a time you ranted about Zherdev to.
No worries, I'll just add it to the ol UG fail bucket list.
You're welcome. |

Definitely expect to see Schultz in a Leaf Jersey though given the history with Burke and what not |

I'm not saying he's a tool. I'm saying, if things go poorly after they draft him, there's a well documented list of players who have gone to the KHL when things didn't go their way. And it's a risk the same could happen with Grigorenko. It's not worth the risk. |

I won't argue this UG.
I was there. And you left the room as soon as people starting razzing you about the thought. When you came back in, you ignored every question regarding that comment.
I've said my peace. There is a lot to be said about someone who stands by what he says. |

Huge difference between drafting Filatov and trading a 3rd rounder for him.
Huge difference.

Thats exactly the position they ARE in....they need to go for the pick with the absolute highest ceiling and hope it pans out.

There are some solid players in this draft. Ryan Murray is one of them. So is Galchenyuk. But the Leafs most likely won't get those guys. That means they need to shift to plan B and plan B should be trading down, getting another 2nd and a 3rd, and drafting Faksa. Much safer pick plus adding two more picks. |
