Well Holzer and Colborne just doesn't make sense. If they're going to give something up, it better be something else. - Unholy_Goalie
Don't forget that the Leafs will actually have to peddle a D, and the deal will actually have to be appealing to Anaheim.
You aren't going to look good by dumping Komisarek on them (not like they would go for it anyway).
I orginally said Liles... but if Anaheim has no interest, then it has to be *something*. I don't want to see Franson gone, so it becomes either Gunnar or Holzer who have any value, but aren't "critical" to the Leafs.
Colborne is a throw in because he is useless... just like he was a throw in in the Kaberle deal.
Also... the Leafs need *some* veteran presence on D. Liles does provide some of that so maybe Burke wants to keep him. |

Kadri played in the OHL for an extra year and in the AHL for another two. You think Grigorenko would spend the first three years of his "professional" career doing that? Especially if the team felt he needed it and he didn't? Filatov sure as hell didn't. He couldn't take 20 games in the AHL before he started getting "home sick". - Unholy_Goalie
He probably would from all words spoken (words are wind sure), I find it hard to really judge anything Columbus Blue Jackets. If Rick Nash hadn't told them to pick him first overall in their interview I think their franchise player would be Scottie Upshall. |

This is about more than that.
This is about Burke not wanting it to go down this way.
... but I am just guessing - GoneFullRetard
If he wants to keep the bridges intact with Anaheim, offer them a 2nd, or a prospect like Broll or of similar ilk. |

I'd hope Colburne gets it together, but as it stands I see him as a fringe 3rd liner.. |

It's a common everyday lesson.
Respect gets you everywhere.
Some just don't grasp that.
So, props to you too! - IRON.MAIDEN
one of the principle lessons I am trying to instill on my 7 and 10 yr old boys ... give respect until it is clear that they don't deserve it ... |

Only Burke views an offer sheet as a disgrace.
Big difference - IRON.MAIDEN
He positioned himself to offer sheet on Kessel. In Burke's world you approach the GM and ask if the guy is available ....if he says no you give him the friendly heads up that you may extend an offer sheet if he's not signed.
It's the courtesy of a 'heads up' and perhaps a 'reach around' that Burke felt was missing in the Penner extraction. |

I can't agree here.
Stamkos proves that NO GM's, currently, like offer sheets.
It obviously does not make a GM persona non grata... but I don't think it helps to be throwing them around. |

Actually, I forgot about that, excellent point.
Burke was also mad because Penner was basically unproven and being offered silly money, which would screw ANA, thus *forcing* them to walk away. |
