I don't see why he has to live in Philly.

A moving fan at his house? Does it oscillate and have three speeds? Or does it mean a Flyers fan was moving out of state, too?

A season ticket holder took the "help Chris Pronger move" option when he re-upped early.

Well all I'm saying is I live 10 minutes from downtown Detroit, and my town of 20,000 hasn't had a murder since I've been a live.
People like to talk about how dangerous Detroit is, and all I'm saying is the "danger" is confined to a couple residential parts of the actual city of Detroit. Parts that no one will ever have any reason to go to.
Look, I found a list that says St. Loius is more dangerous then Detroit. And Troy, where the Wings practice 15 minutes from downtown, is one of the safest cities of the country.

I could see a warzone like Detroit being an area a player/person would not want to live in
i'd rather not live with Vietnam in my backyard

What personal experience are you basing this on?
Talk to anyone from this area, and they'll tell you how wrong that is.

- ChipBurger

Okay that comment I made is an obvious embellishment. However it's not a stretch of the truth that Detroit is pretty bad. As for my personal experiences I've pretty much shared them but I guess you glossed over those. I don't live in a city that even shows up on any so-called lists but for the second time today I'll post a list another one too I might add that states how Detroit is the worst place to live in the United states
http://www.areavibes.com/library/10-worst-cities/
Being that I'm from an area that is nowhere near that bad and has a substantial amount of violent crime and i don't want live here anymore, I really don't see how me saying that the idea of the thought thatDetroit being the worst/most dangerous place to live in can cross someone's mind warrants insults on my intelligence. Just so you know as profession I dealt with criminals on a daily basis for a long time and people who had this attitude that they weren't that bad because no, on a regular day to day basis the danger doesn't jump right out at you, usually ended up getting hurt.

Edit: actual words in that article too,
If you are considering moving to Detroit we suggest you look elsewhere, like maybe Afghanistan or North Korea. It's safer in both of those places and there is actually the possibility of finding a job.

First, I never said anything about your intelligence, just that you didn't know what you're talking about when it comes to Detroit.
Second, yeah, I've said that too, the city of Detroit has really bad areas. But, I also said that no one moves into those areas, they move out as soon as they can, and that doesn't help those areas. Articles like that love to crack jokes. It just goes to show their credibility.
If you just read articles like that, yeah, you won't want to live in the area, but if you actually talk to someone from here, you'll get an entirely different, and more accurate story.

That's funny, seeing as how there's no CBA for next year.
- ChipBurger

That has nothing to do with a Cap being announced now. There is a CBA right now.

Not for nothing but there aren't a whole lot of articles saying other wise. As for the wisecracking, that's just a practice to keep today's casual but easily distracted reader engaged. I'm not recommending they do that but there's noting false that they are actually reporting so their credibility is intact. Also people who live in a percieved area can be De-sensitized to the area therefore it is not the only thing to gauge an area with.

pretty much. I tried earlier in the day to get off this but nope moving to or near a city that is considered the worst to live in should in no way shape or form be a thought on one's mind when they are about to make said move.

But that won't be the cap next year.
It might be close, but it's probably going to be less.

But that doesn't matter. Because there will a mechanism that will enable the teams to get to whatever the new Cap is, if it changes. So it's business as usual and the GM's will approach the off season at the announced Cap number.

Pretty much like any major metro area. Is Detroit any worse than areas of Philly, DC, St. Louis, etc... Anywhere there is unemployment, and people living below the poverty line there is going to be violent crime. Unfortunately it won't be changing anytime soon.

The only thing wrong with it is that the suburbs, where everyone lives, are some of the nicest areas in the country.
But individually, they aren't big enough to make these "lists".
I'd put any amount of money on it not effecting a players decision to play for the Red Wings or not.
