The only thing wrong with it is that the suburbs, where everyone lives, are some of the nicest areas in the country.
But individually, they aren't big enough to make these "lists".
I'd put any amount of money on it not effecting a players decision to play for the Red Wings or not.

I agree it won't. There are beautiful areas in the Detroit area. Excellent for outdoor recreation.

It probably doesn't ultimately affect their decision, don't think I ever said it did, but I did and still am saying that it's something that some might consider. If you do a little research the city shows up as at least one of the worst to live in. I'm not seeing how that makes me not know what I'm talking about.

The point that is being repeatedly made Joe is that the players aren't going to live in the City. So how is that relevant? Research the sorrounding suburbs around Detroit.

I never said there weren't beautiful areas near detroit either. However I did say even still me personally I would rather not live in close proximity to that city or one similar and yes I have done so.

If I could live in a beautiful suburb of Detroit that is safe, in a big house making millions of bucks to play Hockey, I don't think I'd feel that my proximity to the City of Detroit would matter one bit. And apparently for the many players that do play for Detroit, it's not an issue.

I agree with you. Mostly every team has bad surroundings near its arena.

see you are missing what I'm saying. There are people myself being one of them that would rather not live in a nice suburb that is close to a violent inner city. Again like I said before my neighborhood is nice however the stuff going on in the "city" is something I'd like to put some more distance between me and my family. That being the case I cannot see how the idea of moving close to an area that is known to be so bad wouldn't cross the minds of some other people.

All things being equal I think you have a point. For regular folks like us with 9-5 jobs working and living in Detroit wouldn't be appealing at all, but when we are talking about multi-million dollar athletes who can live anywhere they want it's not much of a factor when making a decision.

Detroit has been a crime filled city for years, has it effected the Red Wings ability to attract free agents and build a competitive team? I think we all know the answer to that question.

that's fine but I don't understand why it's so preposterous to think that some other people would rather not or have some concern.

allright I really am done with this, sorry I speculated on something I just didn't like my name getting thrown out there in the manner it was and my speculation being lumped into other opinions.

edit: not the end of the world and no I didn't report anyone or want anyone banned, i can take my toes getting stepped on here and there.

Because it is the same pretty much everywhere. In every Major City where most teams are located, there is high crime areas in the inner City. If your in a affluent high class suburb of that City, it's not going to matter. Have you ever heard of a player not wanting to play in Detroit due to the situation in the City?

Well then you would have a hard time finding a team to play for.

And I'm just saying unless you live in the actual city of Detroit, and not downtown Detroit, those stats will have no effect on your life. Reading reports like that, won't give you an accurate representation of the area, only parts of the city.
That's all.
I'm done with it.

Great, I wanna see that Hardcore Pawn Shop. Probably not as interesting as the one in Pawn Stars in terms of Historic items, but I do enjoy window shopping here and there.

Then why would anyone sign with the Flyers? Great one-two punch of Philly and Camden right next to each other.

For all the Haddonfields, Merions and Voorhees that make Philly more palatable, Detroit has Grosse Point and other suburbs that have good schools and nice areas.

Haha, I've been by there, but I've never gone in.
It's called American Jewelry and Loan, or something like that.
