That's rough but only game one. Played at most 20 minutes and could have stole the game. Can't wait for game 2. Just got to regroup and play better

Zidlicky pinched and Zubrus went to the puck. A good player like Kopitar pounce on that mistake. Some positives are that Elias played his first good game in what seemed like all playoffs, JJ looked good, and we were able to establish some sort of forecheck. Gotta show more finish against quick though, specifically Clarkson, Parise, and Fayne. Parise Kovy, and Zidlicky need to step their game up in general.

Completely (frank)ing DOOMED

Gotta give the Kings credit, very tough team.....But so are the Devils.
First game of any series is usually trying to "get a feel" of the other team. So, I never judge a team based off the first game. It's usually the 2nd and beyond when you get a good feel of the teams identity. That's how I look at it, IMO.

We did against the Panthers, but whatever. I hear you.

Here's my observations:

a. The Kings are huge. Big kids, hit hard too. Glad to see the Devils hitting back just as hard. But this is clearly the biggest team the Devils have faced.

b. The Kings are taking away the boards game for the most part, hindering the Devils ability to establish their play. Smart coaching on their part. The Devils solved it in bursts, but not for that long a sustained time.

c. The first two goals were crap. On both ends. Marty should have had it and Quick had no chance (for opposite reasons they were crap).

d. Despite the Kings seeming inhuman, it was still an OT game with the Devils owning the play for long stretches in the 3rd and OT. We've lost the first game of the last two series, too. No need to freak out just yet. Let's hope DeBoer has some adjustments. I think tying the series and putting the Kings up against some adversity will test their mettle, keep em honest. We'll see.

The Kings were the better team for most of this game. I have no trouble ceding it.

It sucks that we lost that way. A play that could have been prevented if we didn't breakdown. Oh well, lots to look for in game 2. Thought we played really well for stretches so we just need to be able to bring it a lot more. Kings clearly more physical to start the game so we need to start that way rather than adjusting to it.

We looked a little tight to begin but if we play the whole game like we did in the third we should win game two.
Didn't think the Kings defense was that good, the team is also very quick. The Devils are going to have to keep hitting these guys to try and slow them down.
Tons of chances for both sides, the game could have ended up 5-4, but the bad ice may have had something to do with that.
Like how the Devils defensemen pinch in down low but they have to finish.
Kovy needs to shoot more, and why is Clarkson always on his ass?

Very tough loss, OT losses are always the worst. We just missed to many freaking open nets. Need to capitalize on these golden opportunities. Wasn't impressed by Kovachuk and Zidlicky in particular. Not sure I liked Poni-Henrique-Kovy together. One bad mistake cost us the game. Though I know we can at least compete with the Kings. Gotto take game 2.
