Oh please. Where have the Devils been lately? Last I checked, the Hawks have had some success recently as well.

The comment I quoted was about marketing. My point is that you don't need it if your club competes and wins games, especially in a sports crazed town like Chicago.

I really like the Kings but for the simple fact they're the 8th seed I see the Devil winning , but I really could care less.

Suter to Detroit

Parise to Minny

And to top it off, I think Schultz is gonna go somewhere super random, like Tampa Bay or Dallas.

So if the kIngs win Jack Johnson gets his name on the cup right ? He played more than 41 reg season games with the LAK ?

He can petition to have his name on the cup, yes.

I thought it was mandatory with either 41 games played or 1 finals game played?

Don't have a preference, like guys on both teams. To me the Kings have been the best team since the playoffs started so I would kinda like to see them win, they deserve it.

No, that's just eligibility, if I'm not mistaken.

Did Doc just say "...save made by Brodeur on his ass?"

First time I've heard that.

I believe the player must still be with the team when they win the Cup to have their name automatically engraved on the Cup.

The petition aspect is applicable if extenuating circumstances arise that would have prevented the player from meeing the eligibility criteria (41 games or 1 Finals game). The Wings petitioned for Konstantinov in the '90s (98?).

This sounds right. I wasn't sure on some of it. I definitely wasn't sure how it worked when a player was traded away mid-season.

Not sure why Hawks would get fleeced - or why, if the Hawks don't act desperate, his value should be that low.

While his escapades have been juvenile and reckless, not to mention stupid, he has not yet been arrested, tried, convicted of anything illegal:

No drugs
No weapons
No violence (even the supposed choking incidents in Madison didn't result in arrests - perhaps there were no such incidents)

This is not to excuse his actions - I've been consistent here in saying it's time for him to grow up and stop believing he's bullet-proof - but if the Hawks don't panic they can get value - or retain a tremendously talented 23 year old.

It's leverage that the other GM's will use against the value of Kane. It's a game they play and will use to get the upper hand. Any GM will do it. The more Kane is in the news for his escapades the more it will be used against him. Thus dropping his value.

Then you don't trade him.

Any deal involving Kane would have to have everyone's buy-in: SB, Q, McD, Rocky - especially Rocky - Bowman won't be able to make a stupid trade on his own.

If I was the Hawks i wouldnt trade PAtrick Kane...Just saying
- Wolfpack12

If I'm the hawks I choose an identity I want the team to take moving forward and ANYONE that does not fit the bill is dealt. Whether that's big and nasty, fast and skilled, defense-first, or just a team of scrappers that out hustles opponents for 60 minutes...don't care. Pick one and roll with it. No more of this hodge podge bull$hit. My 2 cents.

And you're sure they'll "rehabilitate" him and there's no danger of his value dropping further, due to photos or other incidents—as though they've never tried to "rehabilitate" him previously, and prevent the latest batch of photos from coming out?

Really?

I have a bridge I want to sell you.

GMs are going to try to do the same thing with Scott Howson for Rick Nash—who Howson HAS to trade. I doubt any other GM would offer a bigger marquee name than Patrick Kane. And Rick Nash is a helluva hockey player.

But if it's not Kane-plus for Nash-plus, if it's less coming back than that, you just can't trade him - you have to get value back - you can't be a worse team after that trade than before.

You know, I have been reading that Bowman will get fleeced in any trade of Kane, that his value is dropping due to the off-ice activities, etc. I think a big thing that fans are not taking into consideration is there is a union behind the players, and it WILL NOT allow a player to be low-balled. Every trade has an effect on future trades. If KAne was traded for a bag of pucks, what will the next guys trade value be? How many times have we seen FA get huge money thorn at them, and we as fans say 'He got how much?". Player's values are never deminished.

So, anyone who thinks that the Blackhawks or Bowman will get fleeced does not know the physics of pro sports.

I don't think the NHLPA has any say over trades - and they care about salaries and revenue share much more than take value anyways.
