Then he's got a poor support team. I have no tolerance for those who waste their talents.

me2

as much as it was a great time with the Phillies and I know the Delaware Valley loves their Phillies, a Flyers parade will be off the hook.

I 100% enjoyed the Winter Classic Alumni Game and how their was 45,000+ cheering on their heroes of yesterday. The City will go nuts and I bet the parade will be bigger then the Phillies.

i think it has to do with something like...
you represent the organization even when you are not playing...

insert company/team name

Really? The team that pays them millions of dollars doesn't want a player out partying and giving his/her team a bad image? There still human why can't they have fun? Why are the held to a higher standard?

Do you know what he did that caused the team concern? I doubt they have a problem with a player going out and having a good time, but they surely have a line they would rather not be crossed.

Because they're being paid millions of dollars to represent a city, organization, not to mention being role models for thousands of young kids.

I don't have a problem with them going out and drinking, but when it becomes public notice (like Getzlaf), involves the police (like Kane), or affects their on-ice performance (like Richards and Carter), then it becomes much more than just going out there and having fun.

Teams should be located in markets that can support them - without taxpayer funds. For whatever reason NJ does not support the Devils, regardless of their success.
- Scoob

The problem with the Devils is that they have to compete in an area that has 3 pro teams around. The Rangers get the most fans in that area, then you have the Islanders and the further south you move the more the market belongs to the Flyers. They need to be good or else they'll be in jeopardy of leaving. Brodeur is not the marquee player he once was. No one else on the team is at the level of play that Brodeur sustained in his prime. Kovy and Parise are the closest.

The guys (one being the (frank)ing captain) couldn't just not drink during the playoffs?

Seriously?!!?

Here it goes... youve done it now!

Also, Bill, I said after the Flyers lost to the devils that they were going to the cup and would win in 5. I am sticking to my guns.

GO DEVILS!!!

Players shouldn't be held responsible if they have their picture taken while out having a good time. So Patrick Kane went out and got drunk and had a good time. Big deal! I've done it a bunch of times, as I'm sure a lot of people have. I don't see an issue with that. And we should also have legitimate proof if players are going to be accused of having off ice fun affect their on ice performance.

They are good and they're still in jeopardy.

I don't see how they will be able to afford to keep Parise. Their 2012-2013 cash outlay is huge ($11M to Kovalchuk alone).

Having to move to a market that can sustain them financially would not be a bad thing.

I don't either but I'm guessing it was more serious than having a picture taken while holding a red Solo cup*.

Obviously it is a big deal if the organization had a talk with him.

The Chicago Blackhawks have discussed Patrick Kane's partying this off-season and GM Stan Bowman said the club was "disappointed" with the situation.

And Parise is gone as of July 1st I assume. I can't see the league underwriting another Kovalchuk deal for the Devils.

Parise in Detroit with Suter. The Red Wings strike again! Just my opinion.

Dramatic drop in point production, obvious change in on ice performance, and being traded are not enough?

The fact that a "dry island" was attempted doesnt also suggest that a change was requested because of a reason?

Also, there is a difference between having a good time, and getting poop-faced drunk every time you go out.

rumors were swirling and people were claiming a lot of bad stuff happened and that there were pictures to prove it.... however the pictures were just him sitting at a bar and walking around looking bleary eyed.

and this is coming from someone who can't STAND kane, this incident seems to be mostly made-up BS.

Patrick Kane also punched a cab driver in the face when he was drunk as a skunk. I'm pretty sure that would never happen if Kane was sober. It isn't the fact that he's having a fun time, it's the fact that sometimes bad things happen when he drinks a ton.

They refuse to make it public other than what I've posted. They said he was not arrested. Not sure what he did exactly that got him in hot water with the organization.
