I don't have Yak at 1 on my board, so I don't see him as obvious choice. That being said, trading down and picking up multiple assets is probably better for Edmonton long term. - Brian Huddle

Think theres any motivation for the Oilers NOT to pick Nail... some folks keep yammering about picking a dman... but Nail seems like the obvious.... OBVIOUS no brainer pick. - robin_steele264
2 concussions and various other injuries and he plays like a kamikaze. |

We've all had 2 concussions.

So, Yakupov goes first to Edmonton, Forsberg to Columbus, Galchenyuk to Montreal... New York probably takes a d-man, like Murray, and Toronto gets Grigorenko? - Feeling Glucky?
Potentially, yes. That's my assumption at this point.

That would explain the memory loss...or it could just be the booze. |

I had a doc tell me that anytime you 'see stars' from a hit or impact, its a concussion... so I've had dozens from playing hockey and football for years.
Some Pro atheletes must have thousands.

You are literally the only person Ive seen without Yak at #1.. even Craig Button didnt deviate.
Do you just like being 'unique'?

Galchenyuk to Montreal
I wish they trade up and grab Matteau too. |

HockeyProspect.com has Gally at 1 as well. At the end of the day, do I want a PPG winger or a PPG center? I'll take the two-way PPG center and run.
It's like asking whether I want Toews or Kane. |

This explains a lot.
In reference to Nail they are saying his last one wasn't actually a concussion though. |

Think theres any chance Yak doesnt go 1st though, regardless of who's picking?

No, he'll go first for sure.
Just remember: I had RNH at 1 last year and got grief for it #tootingmyownhorn

I could live with it, I'd rather have Galy, but Grigorenko has insane skill.
With Carlyle behind the bench though, it's definitely boom or bust for him. Either he agrees to fit in with the system and becomes dominant, or he winds up hating the coach and we wind up trading him. |

If what you say is true that CBJ wants forsberg, where murray fall to? Doubt mtl takes him but would nyi take him? That would leave grigo/gally depending on who mtl picks up. Any chance leafs move up to 2 to grab gally and cbj takes forsberg at 5? Would the 5th and gunnar/franson be enough to move up or would be have to add? |

Concussions are easy to get... headbangers give themselves brain-damage pretty easy... I've only had one noticeable one, where I actually blacked out, and had headaches for a couple of weeks after... but god knows how many minor ones I've gotten. |

Not until the end. I had RNH at 1 in Feb, and all the Oilers fans came into the blog telling me I was dumb because Larsson and Landeskog were the obvious clear cut #1s.

Well yeah many were on the Larsson train for a while until Hopkins clearly separated himself.

I see.
Well, Im pumped for Nail to join the fold, regardless... if we didnt already have RNH it might be more of a debate.

Teams are built down the middle. It's my opinion that teams need one game changing winger, and then if they have very good center depth, they can make the most of out of "crash and bang" wingers... think Chris Kunitz. |

No team is built better than the Pens down the middle, and they crapped themselves this year.... so it's hard to say.

Not like NJ has the best of centers. |
