Per Botta:

Unlike past NHL Combines, when the #Isles sent the team psychologist and several scouts, they're taking a different approach this week. While most clubs have 4-8 hockey ops staffers present, league sources tell me the NYI only have one. NYI are not meeting with players at the combine like years past. Instead, the team will analyze the results of its psych test and, as always, hold meetings in the weeks ahead with several players on Long Island under consideration for their top draft selections.

I wonder who the one "hockey ops staffer" will be? Hmmmm, does he sit at draft tables and eat pringles and doritos?

Well we know how serious the Islanders consider the draft, we are at the end of a big rebuild here according to Snow. Right?

Lighthouse hockey doing some really cool writups on guys that may be there in second rouind for our second pick. Yesterday they had Thrower and today Frk. Interesting reads if you are bored.
- niteislander

Well its beginning to sound like Snow and Wang blindfold the fat Asian kid, spin him in a couple circles and then have him throw darts at a wall full of names as far as the decision process for the draft is concerned. As per Botta at least

When I went to the polls in my Isles jersey and got dirty looks from all the seniors, I knew it wasn't going to be good....

Those relics will probably be dead when Nassau's taxes go up 300-1000 dollars a year because the Islanders wind up leaving.

But the important thing is their taxes didn't go up 12 dollars. That would have killed them. What a sad day it was last year to see us completely lose the referendum. The Isles can never win.

Unfortunately they will NEVER get support with the state of this current team.

The bottom line is, that building beats the cr*p out of where they are now, even if one end is utterly useless, and if you root for the team, you'll get there- that's the way I see it. I've been coming from PA and NJ for years. Not to mention, this is likely the only thing that could possibly get Nassau/TOH off its collective as*es to actually get something done.

If the Yankees can lead the majors in attendance in the Bronx, I think the Isles have enuf die hards to make it all the way to brooklyn to fill an arena that's smaller than the one they currently play in. (BTW, does anyone expect a soldout arena every night?) And if the prices aren't outrageous, there's plenty of Brooklynites who may find themselves taking up an interest in hockey.

It's too bad that you can't tuff it out for a team you devote so much time and energy discussing. I hope the team doesn't "not move" to Barclays, temporarily albeit, when the lease expires and county is still dragging their arses in the mud & pointing fingers because YOU think it will be too tough to get there. With all due respect Dee, would you REALLY rather they move to KC or Quebec if Barclays becomes the only option?????

I don't think Nassau's government and most of the people that live in Nassau care if they leave , that's the problem. Whether the building is better than the Masoleum or not is irrelevant, Buttman would not endorse an NHL team playing there.

The Isles didn't have enough "die hards" to beat a couple thousand geriatrics in a vote what makes you think they'll trek to Brooklyn to fill up an arena? Not saying I wouldn't be for it but you have to ask yourself that question. Also, using the Yankees as a reference when talking about the Islanders and possible attendence might not be the best measuring stick?

The seniors in this country are the children of those who survived the depression- the baby boomers, of which I am at the tail end- most of us, sadly, are the most self-centered, cheapest people on Earth. I like my Social Security, but eff you- when you retire, you can starve if you didn't gamble 3/4 of your pay in the stock market every month. I don't want to pay for anything, even though my parents paid for everything that built this country. My pension kicks a$$, but if yours is going to make my stock value go down, screw you. Selfish to the core......it's really easy to convince them why they should keep their wallets closed, for any reason.....and yet....they insist this is a "Christian" nation.....go figure....you might try actually READING the Bible at some point...

These same seniors are going to feel real stupid when their taxes go up a few hundred dollars to a thousand, if they are so cheap they should have been smart enough to figure out that if this team leaves they are going to pay fifty times more what the proposed tax increase would have been.

but from reports i have heard, the barclays center would only hold about 14.5k fans, in a huge metropolitan area for a sport that apparently is growing, bettman and co are going to want them to have at least a 17k arena, so unless barclays is a stop gap while another arena has been planned and approved and is in the beginning stages of being built, im not sure how viable it is

*i dont want the isles to leave, im just lookin at it from the top guys perspective

If it's temporary, who friggin cares what the seating capacity is??
Tell me the Devils sellout all their games...as well as all the other teams in the NHL. It's not like they're looking to move to Westbury Music Fair...

No, it's just his & Garth's pure hockey genius rearing it's noggin again.
They know better than every other franchise in the league. It's the end move to bringing the cup back this year. Psyched!

" Then take a gander at this photo of him in California. This is no scrawny kid. Welcome aboard John."

Dee's quote on that picture

..... My take:
"Then Take a Gander at this photo of him in California. He is wearing skin tight jorts and Blueblockers.. he either just hopped out of a time machine or he is quite possibly mentally challenged."
