The stupidity of Nassau county and New York politics in general just astounds me. This team is literally being FORCED to move out of pure idiocy. The republicans and Democrats pissing on each other to prevent anything from getting done. I really go nuts thinking about it. Eventually this team will move. Whether that is Brooklyn, Queens, or Quebec I have no idea, but when they do and this Fossil of an Arena is empty Sans high school graduations (maybe) they will each just point the blame across the aisle. In the meantime Thousands of Jobs, Millions of Dollars of revenue, and Loads of income will be lost to Nassau.

When do these people act like they give a sht about where they live and put that over their partisan bullsht?

Never, Long Island politicians are some of the most corrupt in the country, disgraceful. When this team moves and all of Nassau Countys residents taxes go up a few hundred dollars to a thousand instead of the 8-10 ten dollars they would have seen with the new coliseum they can thank all of these politicians for the BS they were fed and thank themselves for being so willing and stupid enough to eat it.

I honestly think I recall you saying it ? I've heard it a few times on here, "we aren't ready for a real coach". Many times even, boggles the mind. Shocking to hear such blatant stupidity on here.
- Cptmjl

ha, i would bet anything you said the islanders werent ready for a real coach; see how easy it is to put words in our peoples peoples mouths just for the sake of trying to make them look bad? unfortunately for you, i never came close to saying that and it is unequivocally not true. please dont put words in my mouth.

Its why this team is guaranteed to move. The ineptness of Nassau County's politicans of present and past have created this situation. Not only can't these idiots in office agree on legislation to get an arena done or to at least get something passed to develop the hub, they have run the county into debt for so long that even if they did actually pass some legislation that provided funding for a new arena, they still would need permission from NIFA to get funding for the legislation, which will never happen as long as the County is broke.

The Isles are gone from Nassau County. Maybe Brooklyn? Maybe Queens? Maybe Quebec? But the Isles are definitely not going to be playing home games in Nassau County after the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

Lots of grammatical errors going on here, I expected more from you. I'm not putting any words in anyone's mouth, that's you speculating again.

People aren't stupid, they're just uninformed and short-sighted. Most people who voted against the referrendum were not educated on the actual finances of the referrendum. I mean, there were three different numbers being thrown around about how much taxes would actuall go up. ONly one of those numbers, if any, could have actually been correct. there was only one referrendum.

Worse yet, those who supported the referrendum never went out and laid out the financial consequences to the county's residents if the Isles were to leave and the arena went dark (which is essentially what will happen once the Isles leave). You can put some of that on the proponents of the plan. When the half-a**ed opposition to the referrendum was able to garner 57% vote against it by just bellowing "your taxes will increase", the message about the benefits to the county clearly did not get across.

But the real reason the referrendum failed is because people are selfish. If something doesn't benefit them directly, most people will not vote for an increase to their taxes. That's why you see school budgets fail. Most people in Nassau County could care less about the Islanders and hockey in general so they weren't going to vote for a tax increase to pay for an arena.

im not from long island so i didnt have a vote and obviously if i did i would have voted in favor of building....but who would vote yes for something that wont benefit them AND raise their taxes? if thats the case, i cant blame them for that....what i blame them is for not being educated and uniformed and the effects once the isles leave

That is what most people thought.. mainly b/c they got 50 phone calls from DC democrats on that very issue and point. I got a million.. if you lived in Nassau they blanket called u to defeat that referendum... "who wants to give a billionaire a 400 million dollar arena on your tax dollars..." etc.

Here is the point though... The referendum failing will cost the county and the tax payers Faaaaaaaaaar more than the 11 dollars a household in Lost revenue, lost jobs, lost rev from businesses in the area, lost taxes..etc. This is the absurd part.. Wang guaranteed so much of that yearly bill that the net was $11 a household instead of the 85 advertised.... and that was worse case scenario. The county would have ended up making money. Now they will lose... a lot more and when taxes go up again all the blame will be fixed.. nothing more..

If you don't have kids or your kids are grown and no longer in school, do you think its okay to vote against an increase in a school budget so that after-school programs and other activities like music, band, etc., are kept around so kids can take advantage of them? I don't have kids yet but I would never vote against an increase to a school budget. Benefits don't necessarily have to be direct. They can be indirect also. That's what i mean by short-sighted.

"I hate hockey. I won't vote for building an arena". "I don't have kids. I won't vote for increased school funding or the building of a new park". This is the kind of thinking that hurts a commmunity.

Per Botta:

Unlike past NHL Combines, when the #Isles sent the team psychologist and several scouts, they're taking a different approach this week. While most clubs have 4-8 hockey ops staffers present, league sources tell me the NYI only have one. NYI are not meeting with players at the combine like years past. Instead, the team will analyze the results of its psych test and, as always, hold meetings in the weeks ahead with several players on Long Island under consideration for their top draft selections.

i hear your point...i just wouldnt call not wanting to keep the islanders around as being selfish. its more ignorant, uneducated, and like you said short-sighted because of what will be from not having them around....
