Dude while Kiprusoff would actually be my 1st choice to bethe Leafs #1 next season there is no way the Flames take Lombardi. If and I mean if the Flames make a trade with the Leafs they would have to be the clear winners in their own minds after the last couple of trades they have done with the Leafs. Plus the big question is does Kiprusoff play more than 1 more season as the last year of his contract he "only" gets paid 1.5 mill. The general consesus is he retires after this season.
No the best bet is the UFA route in Vokoun or Harding for 2 or 3 yrs as they won't cost us heavy prospects. And 2 or 3 yrs will give both Reimer and Scrivens time to mature, if BB doesn't trade 1 of them.
And yes I might trade either of them for the right price. Like the Jacket's 2nd overall pick for Reimer/Scrivens, Kenny Ryan/Marcel Mueller and Bozak. That would give the Jackets 3 players that could potentially step right into their line up and give the Leafs a 2nd top 5 pick.
If you want to get rid of Komi and his NMC BB would have to go to the new ownership and see if they are willing to step up financially. If they are make an offer directly to Wang the owner of the Islanders. DiPietro still has 9 more yrs at 4.5 mill per season. So the Leafs trade Komi (hometown boy) and let's say Jerry D'Amigo (Close to East Coast boy) For DePietro and 2012 1st and 2nd rd picks and 2013 1st rd pick.
Komi's cap hit is 4.5 but he only is paid 3.5. So Mr Wang saves 33.5 million keeps the cap hit so the Islanders can stay close to the cap floor and get a really good prospect in D'Amigo.
The Leafs open a spot on the D line, get 2 1st and 1 2nd rd pick. If there is an amnesty clause inthe new CBA they can buy D'Pietro out or send him down to the Marlies or even down to the ECHL until he can stay healthy and play up to his original potential.
This could give the Leafs 3 1st rd picks in the top 5 and 2 high 2nd rd picks this year and 2 1st rd picks next year. - Canhockeyfan
You are not getting the 2nd overall for all of that...

Sure, create a trade that only benefits the Leafs.
If the Flames are "rebuilding" like you say they are, why would they take on so much salary?
The Flames are going to ride Kipper until they can't anymore and there's no way in hell they're trading him for spare parts or replacing him with Reimer. - Unholy_Goalie
???What salary? Schenn's $3.6? Lombardi will provide some veteran speed (for 1 year), MacA is good value @ $3.25 (for 1 more year), Colborne is only getting $1.1, Reimer $1.8 (saves them $4M in net).?????

Why would you give up Colborne for an aging goalie - LEAFSfan28191
Because he is behind Grabo, Bozak is our long term 3rd line C IMO, and I think we are going to draft our #1 this year (either way I don't think Colborne is going to be our number 1C), and I think Kipper could help attract the Parise/Suter types...
If they see this they will ask us refs why we left it on here, I will continue with trying the calming the waters and delete route for now, I think Juice, Dozzer and I have been really fair and tolerant in the Leafs threads. - LeafMan
You guys have been doing an excellent job at being mods.

Schenn, Lombardi and MacArthur cost them over 10 million combined. Colborne and Reimer added in and they're spending over 13 million dollars.

Kipper has a cap hit of 5.8 million.
That's ADDING 7 million dollars to their cap!

I don't see whats wrong with adding to your cap if you're re-building... it's not like you need that money for stars when you're heading down to the bottom...
it's a stupid trade for the Leafs though, no way should they consider that.

It's one-sided for the Leafs. They pretty much give up Schenn, Colborne and Reimer for Kipper (which is way less than what Kipper would be worth) and then dump 6.75 million in cap space with Lombardi and MacArthur.
And don't start overrating Colborne and Reimer. Just don't.
