Great, that is gonna hurt real bad. I've had a blast watching the Marlies go on this run. Kids that aren't getting paid billions to not try are funner to watch IMO. Pro athletes are grossly over paid. Million bucks to Crosby, every one else goes down from there.

its been pretty damned good hockey - ive seen at least 1 or 2 games from each series.

Probably should have kept it there.

Why? Why does Calgary accept that? What the hell do they gain from this trade? You do know that Sutter isn't running the team anymore right?

- Unholy_Goalie

Calgary needs to start their rebuild. The would get a quality young prospect up the middle in Colborne, a solid young d man in Schenn, a young goalie with upside in Reimer, some secondary scoring in Mac, and they might be willing to give Lombardi another chance there (and he is short-term risk).

From what I understand Calgary doesn't have much in their system and Kipper doesn't have that many years left of him anyways. Adding Schenn, Colborne and Reimer would help add to their youth.

For TOR, Kipper would give us solid goaltending for a couple years, until we see who of Scrivens, Ryannas or Owuya can be our future goalie.

pimpin!!! games there are SO CHEAP compared to Toronto.

It would be like 5-10 grand or more for a conference final ticket!

McKegg-stand has more skill and vision while Ross has much more grit and crashes the net gets the dirty goals It's perfect.

McKegg gets the assists and Ross bangs away a couple ugly goals. We need em both.

I say we go for Kipper. Make a big trade to try to entice Parise/Suter....

To CGY:
Lombardi
MacArthur
Schenn
Colborne
Reimer

To TOR:
Kipper

Draft Galchenyuk
Sign Parise, Suter & Schultz
Trade Armstrong to TSN

Move Komisarek to a floor team for late pick/prospect or bury him with the marlies. Let Connolly play out his last year on the 3rd line with Galchenyuk coming up for him when he is injured. Galy can come up the year after when Connolly is done and trade spots with Bozak.

If the cap goes to ~$67Mil it could work....I'm guessing it will go to about $69Mil

- B-Leaf

So many problems, where to start?
1) It's a HUGE overpayment. Why would Toronto pay that much for a goalie? And this is only if Calgary actually decides to blow it up and rebuild
2) What if Galchenyuk is not avail at number 5?
3) Easy to say sign those guys, but reality will be quite different
4) You can't trade Army to TSN unless Army calls it quits and retires.
5) You can't bury Komi in the minors. Pretty sure he has a NMC that prevents it.

Yep. We had like 6th row 300s, they were pretty damn good, they cost us $130 bux. Not bad at all.

Now, I told Huds last night, I put together my summer wishlist, it includes: (In no particular order) Galchenyuk, Schultz and Subban.

What say u bro?

I would be surprised if they choose a goalie with the first two picks, the Leafs really liked what Sparks showed this year so I think a goalie will not be on the draft list for this year, plus the Leafs have only a few picks this year.

Calgary has zero interest in a rebuild. Their owners are on a warpath for 8th place in the West. Just like the Leafs. They have zero interest in trading away one of the best goalies in the league for spare parts like Lombardi and MacArthur.

There is absolutely nothing in that package, either individually, or combined, that helps the Flames win games. You expect them to replace Kipper with Reimer? Take on absurd contracts like Lombardi?

Insanely unrealistic.

That's what happens when you're rebuilding through youth.

Remember Carter and Richards winning a Calder? That was huge for them.

wouldn't call Frattin or Scrivens young by any means.

I think the bigger question is...

How do you really feel about his Calgary trade?

Also Calgary's salary cap is just about maxed out. They are looking for picks and young NHL ready prospects. They couldn't possibly take 11mil-ish in salary back.
