It is getting outta control these days.

Going to have to rule with a firm hand from now on eh Leafman?

I was pleasantly surprised by reading the discussions last night, thanks. What is the point of the senseless arguments that just go round and round.

Know what I don't get about Toronto fans?

When the Jays Alex anthopolous signs prospects, the fans praise him, and say how he is great for signing so many prospects for him to build the depth pool.

When the LEafs Burke signs player, the fans rip him apart.

Odd.

That's because if you ask most of the tools on here...they'll tell you that they're all 'middling' prospects.

I only repeated your waarning because if people start getting banned, this room goes very quiet.

And it gets quite boring without Pen15 around

The sad part is no matter how many prospects AA stock pile, they will still have a difficult time competing, you need a good balance, baseball with exception of maybe basketball when you think of it, is really a individualistic sport, mostly a one on one battle.

Some people just don't understand that quantity can obtain you quality, especially when trading..

The misconception sometimes is that I want to get rid of people, that is farther from the truth, I want to see you guys posting but respectful, disagree all you want but don't make personal insults.

As do I!

Listening to the same person deflate an entire room gets silly.

Guess it's that time of year though..the same die hards stick around. When the draft rolls around, we can count on more than the usual suspects filling up these blogs

Makes it hard sometimes when certain posters fish for them tho ol' Leafman.

And when a ref isn't present, it's too tempting to hit back.

What I like about the strategy is that he's added multiple pieces with high end potential. The more of those you have in your system, the better the probability that one or two will turn out.

Need to shore up the pitching, if they can get that on track, it will make a huge difference.

I'm looking forward to some real hockey talk.

So tired of hearing what 1C we will land in a Colburne/Lombardi/Komisarek trade.

All for peoples opinion, but some fans just don't grasp reality

We should hear what it'll take to land Luongo one more time.

With some arms, this team could be legit.

Until then, we build the other positions, and maybe during free agent time pick up an arm or two.

Maybe AA will throw some prospects come trade deadline for a decent arm.

One thing you can count on...

The pressure is on Burke this offseason more than ever. I'd expect a few big deals this summer from him. Can't recall if he has ever had this kind of pressure to make the playoffs on him during his career.

Seems too proud of a guy to stay the course.

Whatever the course is at this point?

That's the problem every year....

Wouldn't mind a legit closer...how many games have they blown now going back to last year?

About as many as Komisarek has missed defensive assignments in that same amount of time...

I thought the whole point of having prospects is trying to develop them and see who can become a valuable asset.

Kiprusoff would instantly put the Leafs in the dreaded 8th place hunt just like he has done with Calgary for years. In addition to the young players it would take to acquire, the Leafs wouldn't be able to tank. It would be very bad for the Leafs in the long run.

That being said, if another team were to acquire Kiprusoff, the price, would be much higher than Schenn, Reimer and Colborne. Much, much higher.

I positioned it as a requirement to attract the bigger UFAs...

1st, A prospect, roster player.

Just like any elite player with some jam left.

- Lee Denault

To CGY:
Lombardi - Gamble on a returning Flame for 1 year
MacArthur - Roster Player
Schenn - Roster Player
Colborne - Prospect (1st round)
Reimer - Roster Player

To TOR:
Kipper

How is this worse? Even listing Schenn as a roster player, he is still quite young, and a piece a rebuilding team would covet.

Wrong. If Flames fans want to trade Kiprusoff to start rebuilding, they could get a way better return than that elsewhere. Logical Flames fans would be pissed off that they didn't get more for the one guy who has been keeping them afloat for so long.
- Unholy_Goalie

Who else needs a goalie (for just a couple of years, because they have goaltending propects in their system), and would pay more than that package.

A team like tampa or the caps that are a goalie away ..... Would be willing to offer up more

What would they offer? Malone? Lecavalier?...just the piece CGY would be looking for....

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I just gave him three thousand reasons why the Kings are where they are.

Cinderella stories happen frequently. But they have never won.

The only team to win the Cup without placing in the top four in their Conference or top eight in the league, depends on how you look at it, are the New Jersey Devils. And they're at it again with arguably the greatest goalie of all-time in net.

Kind of hard to build a case for "8th place". Especially in the East. The West is where the Cinderella teams usually come from.
