You've gotta be kidding. Hudon did nothing of that against the Cats (in the playoffs) in the 3 games i saw. The only accurate fact is that he sure is a goal scorer.
- Habsody

That's a 3 game span. Good thing you can get a handle of what a player is in such a small sample. You must be a professional scout.

We had one of the softest D squad in the league. We need to bring a right handed with some grit. You just can't let Price be pushed around night in, night out and neither of Diaz or Weber can do that job.
- Habsody

Diaz has been alright. He's a pretty good fit on the 3rd pair with a physical D like Allen/Stuart/Jackman.

Two fat russians who can't skate. Seems like a pretty good recipe for success.

With Markov?

Alexei Yemelin.

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Allen/Stuart/Jackman - Diaz

St-Denis - Weber

- QuebecPride

C'mon kid, they won't sign for a team that want them as a #5D this makes zero sense. I'm ok with trying Emelin but we lack grit badly still.

Quite not at your level obviously I saw him twice in the regular season as well. Same observation: the kid won't be efficient at the pro level.

If you give them the money, yes they will sign. Brad Stuart was just that, a 3rd pairing D, with Detroit this year.

Did he sign an extension with Detroit?

That's a guy you gotta consider.... if he plays on the right side at least.

Kubina and Sarich? I wouldn't mind Kubina for 3 years, would give time for Tinordi, Beaulieu, Ellis to mature in Hamilton.
- Habsody

I could take one of those guys to play with Markov for a couple of years while we wait for the young guys. We can't rush the young D. And a big guy may protect Markov a little. But it would have to be for the right price, and having Kaberle on the books may prevent us from being able to do it at all.

This year, dealing with the Gomez contract may be all we can ask for from Bergevin. Perhaps Bourque recovers under a new coach, and perhaps we can unload Kaberle at the deadline.

I don't disagree, but

(1) Emelin did not get to really play the whole season, only got real minutes and significant ice time in the second half of the season, so that will help a little

(2) I don't want to be stuck with another lame 2-3 year deal like we had with Spacek (who, I kinda did not mind, really) and now Kabele, etc.

Habs are not going to be contenders, so they don't need guys like that to fill out their roster for depth. They need cheap guys with monimum commitment who can play well enough (Weber, Diaz, etc..), but are easy to put aside when the kids like Tonordi and Bealieu are ready to step in.

I don't want some vet blocking their path or development because of a dump contract whenever needed int he first place.

Brian Allan makes sense to me because he can be an upgrade, Kubina (who was benched by the Flyers) and Sarich are just a waste of money at this point. The only problem I have with Allan will be the contract he will likely get.

Diaz and Emelin can develop into a decent 5-6 pair together.

- RyanZabizewski

way too early to tell. I have to say, I'm excited about this new direction, and seeing new staff in management, but Habs are the same on the ice at the moment.

He is doing what he has to do, changes on the ice will come in time.
