Why would Edmonton do that, if they can just draft Murray at #1? - mcmanmat
Because they know Yakupov is a coveted player. They can get a better/extra pick if they trade down. That said they would have to make Columbus isn't taking him. |

In his proposal they also get a 33rd pic for their first.
So 1st overall for 3rd and 33rd overall |

I wouldn't want to draft a player the Colombus scouting staff considers the best prospect available. - _nay_

Somehow I don't see Columbus taking a defenseman. They'll get some good d propsects in the Nash trade so they would take Galchenyuk/Forsberg/Grigorenko.
I think Murray goes #4 to NYI if Edmonton doesn't take him. - Apples
Problem is they need everything If I was Edmonton I'd just take Yakupov go into the season with their squad, if they suck again get Seth Jones (D) and figure which of their many young stars could be moved for a star dman. |

Yakupov >>>>>> #3 and #33 - Apples
Galchenyuk and Grigorenko have a higher ceiling than him, and will most likely both be avi at #3. Thing is Yakupov can play right away, while I'm not sure for the other 2.
And at between 15 to 50, there's not much difference. At 32nd (most likely) you'll have a pretty good player, a guy who is probably a 1st rounder in the Habs mind.

Too many top forwards will not be a great thing in a few years when they each cost $5M-$7M.
You're looking at like $25M+ for your top 4 forwards. |

Their ceiling is higher, and they both can play Defensively already. While Yakupov is a scoring machine and is ready physically, he's not responsible defensively. And the other two are centers. So that's added value.
You know what I mean by ceiling right?
Means they have a bigger potential, it doesn't necessarily means they will reach it though. You have to take into account the Grigo is 6'3 and Galchenyuk is 6'1, while Yakupov is 5'10, once they are both matured out, it will be a huge difference. |

No way, it's crap...just like every lime beer out there.
Beer doesn't need to be changed, stop adding stuff to beer. Anything in a bottle or can other then regular beer, stout, lager, pilsner is plain and simple a woman's drink or the drink of fist pumpers. |

They already have that problem with2 of their top 3's contracts expiring at the same time, and the 3rd within a year of the other 2.
They wouldn't even have to bring Yakupov up next year, they could let him play a year in the AHL, bring him up for a few games but not enough to waste a year of his ELC. And at the end of the next year or the year after trade one of them for a star Dman.
This year they could trade someone like Gagner for a 2nd tier dman.
They have many options, giving up on the clear no. 1 draft pick shouldn't be one of them. |

Yes I know what's a 'ceiling' but that's what potential is, it's speculation on how well they'll be in the future. |
