Mellanby is a good addition.

Bergevin is building up quite a management team.

Patience.

Habs won't become contenders tomorrow. That 3rd overall pick is a start.

A low risk signing could be Bryan Allen.
- Dgrdnr

In principal, he would be a good guy to have.

I suspect he will be expensive -$$ and term - so he needs to be a guy whois lights out every game to be worth the money he is going to get.

Losers in the Suter sweeps are going to overpay for the tier 2 d-men.

We don't really need a perimental player like he is. Right now he cuts to the net, but he's the kind of guy that will be more shy once he plays against men, he's already hesitant in the OHL and against his peers.

This guy is all flash, he has nice hands a good vision, but he's not the kind of guy I want on my team.

Totally agree on this one. Actually a bigger version of Hudon (i know i will hurt your feelings but still)

If he doesn't resign with the Blues, Jackman will be as well.

I don't get why people say "top 2" "top 3" "top 4".

Why don't we just say #2, #3, #4.

We only say it with #1 D's for some reason....

Yup, but no offense to his game.

He's a second Gorges at best.

For me, it has to do more with what hand he shoots and how that fits with the team... He could slot int he 2-4 position, depending on who would make a better d-tandem with him and how you want to balance your defensive system.

So, yes, more of a "#4" guy, but he would play anywhere in your top 4.

This. The Habs are lacking in RHD right now, and need someone to play with Markov for a couple of years while our young guys mature.

How long until Emelin is ready to take that role though?

He played very well in the World's for Russia... I'd rather give him a shot at #4 first than overpay for a veteran.

I see him more as a partner for a PK-type player, mitigating risks... Markkov (if healthy) with Georges and PK with someone such as Allan would be a much more sound top 4 - can take more risks and still be covered defensively.

Then you can slip Emelin in with Kaberle, if we are still stuck with him, so a lesser version of those two pairing, but with the same concept.

Kubina and Sarich? I wouldn't mind Kubina for 3 years, would give time for Tinordi, Beaulieu, Ellis to mature in Hamilton.
