i have a hard time believing Hartley would sign a multi-year deal in Zurich that didn't include an NHL out clause.

Between Hartley, Therrien, Carbonneau and Crawford, I think I prefer Hartley.

The Florida Panthers signed the veteran left wing Stéphane Matteau to a one-year contract yesterday.

The signing reunited Matteau with Panthers Coach Mike Keenan. Matteau, a 12-year veteran, played for Keenan with Chicago, St. Louis and the Rangers, who won the Stanley Cup with them in 1994. Matteau had the double-overtime goal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals that sent the Rangers past the Devils and into the Stanley Cup finals. An unrestricted free agent, Matteau spent the past five seasons with San Jose. He had seven goals and four assists last season, but the Sharks had little interest in re-signing him.

Well, that too. Or he should have done like Kirk Muller and accept an asst. coach position for a few years. Staying at home doing (frank)all, saying "coaching in the Q is not for me" and bullpoopting on L'Antichambre waiting for an NHL team to offer you a head coach position isn't really winner in my book. He has potential to be a good coach, but he did nothing to hone his skills and address his weaknesses since Gainey fired him.

Except losing in the 1st round in Chicoutimi.
