With a full season of Markov, we battle for a playoff spot last year. He wil lbe there the full year this year, add in the QC dream kid and we are conference champs.

i dont think it'll take that long, teams do want Plekanec, teams would want some of our prospect D, and teams would want our #3 pick, i dont think we'll be screwed for very long, Philly pulled it off in one year (a few years back) and they didnt have a Carey Price and New Jersey managed to pul a complete flip after a terrible last year

we've got assets to use...i jus think Tinordi should be the only untouchable

NJD was good 2 years ago, had a hard time adjusting, and, by mid season, was one of the hottest teams in the league for the stretch run. The habs sucked, got worse, then got worse. Oh, and we sucked the 2 years before just had lucky results.

i wouldnt even bother really. we're completely hopeless for the next 2-3 years. we'll be awful for a while.

I don't think so man. As Asp said a few times throughout this horrible season, it was just 'one of those years'.

With a healthy Markov, and a good UFA signature on D, Subban won't have as much pressure and will fare better. We can't know for sure if Markov's the same player he used to be yet, but this guy was one of the top D in the league before the streak of injuries.

We need to find a Left Winger for Plekanec, as Bourque won't cut it.

Could Jagr sign with us? And play with Pleks and Gio on a line?

Will Moen resign with us?

If not we should target Brandon Prust.

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Jagr - Plekanec - Gionta
Bourque - Eller - Leblanc
Prust - Dumont - White
Palushaj/Darche

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Allen/Jackman/Stuart - Diaz

Kaberle - Weber - St-denis

Habs also had the 2nd most injured team in the league, went through brutal upper management changes/decisions and went through another coaching change...lets list all the facts

For the Habs to be successful, the Habs have to have lots of things go right. One of two things falling down is the difference between 8th and 14th.

The same thing can be said for about 5-8 teams.

Mediocrity at work.

Lets' expand to 32 teams.

sometimes i really wonder about some habs fans, i mean do you guys even realize the Habs had the #2 PK in the entire league last year...why are you trying to suggest we add more D? when we have amazing young D coming in anyways

its clear the only thing to focus on is Offense

furthermore the only other team in the top 6 for PK% this past season to NOT make the playoffs is the Habs they're surrounded by the Devils, Pens, Kings and Canucks all of whom are powerhouse teams by comparison.....so whats with the lets bring in this D and that D talk?

pay attention ppl lol

all the procrastinating doesnt mean isht anyways, as long as you have a hot goalie goin into the the playoffs the difference between first and 8th is gone and has been so for a few years

funny when i watched the games i saw a team with one of the best shot blockers in the game and i also noticed a team that does a great job at killing penalties.....but nah they should sign every available UFA D out there!

because those stats....the ones that say how many shots Josh Gorges blocked...they dont mean a thing, because obviously they didnt count unless we saw each of those blocked shots with our own eyes!

You like stats?

Check puck possession time (that's why they block so many shots, because they don't have the puck).

Also check 5 on 5 scoring.

look i dont care, STATS arent the bottom line, but to ignore them makes absoultely no sense either i was simply pointed out that the Habs D isnt as dead as you ppl claim, and using the STATS as comparison helps alot

sheesh some ppl's kids

Our 5 on 5 scoring was pretty good... quite the opposite of the previous few years...

The D is soft. Bottom line.

One solid defensive dman, that can log 16-20 min of icetime and lay hits is what is needed.

No more Campolis/Diazes/Kaberles/Webers... Keep one and send the others packing.
(I'd keep Diaz)

having the puck requires offensive players who are able to KEEP the puck, thus less pressure on the D to have to block the shots....or Offense that forechecks like the Devils....

We have players that can keep the puck, but it's just not what our system was based on. It was stupid. Did you read Gill's interview with Dave Stubbs?

http://www.hockeyinsideou...ok-inside-his-former-habs

The message (from the coaching staff) was we need to play as a team with their system. I tried to preach it but the hard part was we didn’t play to guys’ strengths. With Gomez, you don’t expect him to chip it up the boards, you want him to come back and pick it up. If he can’t do that, he can’t be effective. With me, I have to do what I do

Compiling the stat can be useless.

Shot blocking has saved a few goals in these playoffs.

i admit your statement is useless, but its ok because you dont play for my habs

and no actually i was furthering my point that they need more/better offensive players
