What!? Why??
- roenick97

Because I like him. Because he's been in the league longer than any of the other former Flyers. Because his only other Finals appearance was his rookie year with the Flyers in 1997.

And because I really admire the way the Devils have played since about the middle of this season. They beat the Flyers in the second round by playing hard nosed, aggressive, unrelenting hockey and then went on to do the same to the Rangers. I like their mix of skill and commitment.

I hate the Devils, but can see Bo's POV. I will loathe the fact that "sudden NJ fans" will spring up in this state for the 4th time since the '94 lockout.

Majority of Flyers fans are yearning to see the Devils win a 4th Stanley Cup. It was on the top of my wish list.

I want to see Brodeur cement his legacy as the best goaltender of all-time, and I really want to see the Patrick/Atlantic Division win their 12th Stanley Cup since 1980. That's one every 2.6 years.

He wasn't invisible in the Pittsburgh series. In fact, the only game where he didn't get a point (Game 6) was probably his best game of the series; and that's the one where he suffered the thigh muscle pull that bothered him during the NJ series. His worst game of the series was Game 2 -- and that's the one where he scored the winning goal in the third period.

Who didn't have a field day offensively against the pens? I thought jagr was great for the young guys. I'm ready to move on without him. His groin issues, an unwillingness to have a reduced role? Thanks for the the year he had. But the team should really be striving to upgrade the spot on Gs line

I agree with you. Jagr was a good soldier, was good in the locker room, and played fairly well. I remember a lot of the prognostications for Jagr when he was signed and some people were talking about 80+ points, well Jagr tallied 54. He's going to be 41 years of age this upcoming season and battled a bunch of lower extremity injuries. Lord knows this team already has plenty of guys who get injured frequently, they don't need an old man taking up 3.5 million or so of cap space.

Parise will be staying in NJ. Perhaps if the Devils flamed out quickly he may have moved on. Parise isn't going anywhere now.

I'm with you all the way. Don't really hate this devils team like so many in the past. Got to respect the way they've played. Really admire Elias as well.

ouch, dose of reality. good point though, makes sense. i also totally agree with you saying we should move on from jagr, too injury prone.

I agree he goes nowhere now. Just find it hard to believe the flyers can't do better Than jagr whether it be through trade or free agency. Esp since the talk it seems of a patch to the D unit. Should have some cap space available

I don't even think Jagr has to be replaced. Use his cap money to improve the blueline. I think Voracek, or JVR will replace Jagr on the top line.

Parise is a fantastic player, any team would like to have him, but the Flyers have more pressing needs. With Pronger done, and Timonen in the last year of his deal, the Flyers need help on the backend.

For instance st Louis has Stewart, Perron, and oshie as RFA's. I wonder what the situation is there and if they can get them all signed

There was an entire season gap between Lindros and Roenick. There was a season gap between Desjardins and Timonen. Needs like a number center or Dman must be replaced instantly.

The Devils are showing a team doesn't necessarily need a # 1 d-man. Who is the # 1 dman on their blueline? They don't have anyone that resembles anything close.

Sometimes if a system is played with discipline, hard work, and intelligence, a team can overcome personnel.

Their playing great hockey tha doesnt resemble devil hockey. I hope they win it but the kings are an absolute well rested freight train right now.

Exactly. The Devils are proving just that. Their defense core individually isn't anything great by any means, but collectively they are playing very well. The old sum of the parts deal.

I'm hoping for a 4th Devil Cup only to watch Brodeur ride into the retirement home with it. I'm dog tired of watching that guy.

What else is he going to say at this point, whether he means it or not? Even if he were planning to go, who wants it to be the Marty's retiring show for the next two weeks?
