As am I. A good read on another prospect Scott Laughton by Todd Cordell. You'll get a kick though out of who he is compared to at the pro level.

Just wish I'd known about him more when I saw Oshawa play. But the tape of him is good.

I have heard of him, good prospect. I'd be OK with adding a guy like Richards.

From the tape I've watched, good talent. Not ready right away which is fine but within 2 to 3 years should be pushing to make a NHL roster.

I don't think this lineup would be a clear improvement over the past season. If the Flyers are going to trade JVR and also not re-sign Jagr, I'd want to see a clear-cut upgrade somewhere in the lineup.

I posted this yesterday but didn't get much feedback. I traded Bob/JVR for Steckel/Schenn (and some picks/prospects) and didn't resign Jagr.

FORWARDS
Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Danny Briere ($6.500m) / Jakub Voracek ($3.000m)
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Zach Parise ($6.800m)
Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / David Steckel ($1.100m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m)

DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m) / Matt Carle ($4.500m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Andreas Lilja ($0.738m)

GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.667m)
Martin Biron ($0.875m)

$7,000 under. Anyways, feel free to bash it as I was just trying to entertain myself.

On a different note anyone have a thought on if the NJD win the cup will it make a Parise signing more or less difficult/likely for them?

That's a great roster. I would love that team. But I have to say I don't think I would do that JVR trade. Now that we have Grossmann, I don't think we need a player like Luke Schenn. I can't really shed any insight into Parise and his future.

For the first time in a long time I'm clueless about whatthis team will do in the offseason.

I'm one for the mindset major moves aren't needed to this team, they've done that in the past, it's time to just make some tweaks.

I don't want any part in trading JVR unless it is the only way to bring in a solid young D man. I think L. Schenn had a bad year (low trade value) and on the right team he could be great. His two way play and R handed shot are appealing. Plus I have some sort of odd fantasy of having the brothers play on the same team...it has worked and also been a curse for some. It would be a part of my "ideal" team because it would add another twist to the season. I understand that is a lame way to build a team (I'm not a GM and am looking for entertainment here).

I would look UFA first but if we come up short handed I would consider trading a forward to solidify the D. JVR still has good trade value IMHO. Voracek could be the more likely man out if he can't hammer out a fair contract though. I think, if healthy, JVR will have a great season next year.

I agree with this as well unless it is smack you in the face obvious that a move will improve the team. D-fense needs a young upgrade IMHO regardless. I know that is an odd thing to say after posting a revamp roster but I was dong it for entertainment, in real life I agree. This team can compete for a stanley cup next year as is...add a young offensive D man and a solid face off vet 4th line center and you are sitting pretty.

I would love to grab Luke Schenn because of the brother factor as well but I also don't want to give to get. In my mind JvR is right up there as untouchable with Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux himself. Now I'm not saying JvR is untouchable, I just feel it would be a mistake to move him unless you're getting a player like Weber back.

I feel the perfect line of the future would be Giroux centering Voracek and JvR but you do have to give to get. With reports saying that signing Voracek hasn't been easy and the solid season he's had, I would walk away from Voracek before I would JvR.

I would consider trading a forward to solidify the D also. But not for Schenn. Now that they've added Grossmann, we need to add more of an offensive puck mover who can play the point on the PP and has a good shot.

That's probably the only way I'd move him, it has to be for the right return. Can't just move him to do it.

A good shot is right-handed, correct? Because what I have learned in the last 6+ years here is that a right-handed shot from the point is better than a left-handed shot from the point. Thus, the Flyers are better off keeping Matt Walker up at the NHL level for 2012-13 than trying to land Jason Garrison or Ryan Suter. In fact, only Shea Weber is as good as Matt Walker due to this handedness superiority.

The problem with the points that you and MJL are making is that you are basing your potential move of JVR upon reason and intellect and not impulse or thoughtless emotion.
