Vokoun is a decent option for a team like Chicago or Detroit. There's also the possibly Calgary could move Kipper, who doesn't have a long-term contract and is in the same tier of goalies as Luongo, some would argue that he's even better considering the teams they play with. Minny will have to decide between Backstrom and Harding because both want to start, Harding is a UFA I believe. Or a team likes the Isles might want to go for a younger goalie for the future like a Bernier, Lindback, etc. There's only about 5 or 6 teams that really could use a goalie and some of them aren't even in high pressure situations where they have to win now so they'll be looking for a younger goalie(CBJ, NYI). There are some other options out there besides Lu and I know that he's more proven than most of the names I mentioned, but none of those guys have such long-term contracts. And in a long-term contract a lot can go wrong for a GM/Owner, a decline in play, constant injuries, etc. - Nucker101
Kiprusoff born October, 1976. 2004 Stanley Cup Final. Vezina Trophy 2006. Jennings Trophy. Silver in the 2004 World Cup. Bronze in the 2010 Olympics.
Luongo born April, 1979. 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Jennings Trophy 2011. Two gold medals at the 2003 and 2004 World Championships and a silver in the 2005 World Championships. Gold 2010 Winter Olympics. Two Presidents' Trophy.
Believe it or not, I think Lu's better. But it could be argued either way. |

Not to mention whatever degree of NTC Lu has. CBJ would love him I'm sure but there's no way he waives to go from penthouse to outhouse.
Teams I'm guessing that would both be interesting to him and interested in him:
TBL
FLA
CHI
DET but only if they are cray enough to not believe in Howard
NJD if Fatty retires
TOR - Pea-Brain
saying that, Fatty's got game. |

It's close.
besides being a flames fan I'd side with kipper since he's held in there on a weaker team, and in clutch moments he has ice in his veins.
A team making a run for the cup would benefit from that. And a great contract, 2nd year is super cheap.
I don't think he'll be traded though. If anything it won't be until trade deadline. Without him Flames wouldn't have a chance next season |

Without question but he's been "fatty" since the start of his prime and that's sure not going to change now |

I just want the playoffs to be over so this team can get on with making the adjustments needed to get us to the cup in 2013. I just hope this isn't "the summer of Luongo". Please get it done quickly!
Thornton for Luongo +. Done.

Ya, but it won't happen.
You know, his contract isn't devastating.
2012-13 - $7,000,000 / bonuses - $1,000,000 / cap hit - $7,000,000
2013-14 - $6,000,000 / no bonuses / cap hit - $7,000,000
This coming season and next. Then it's done. |

Mike Gillis would never aquire a player with that kind of price tag when he has convinced the leaders of this team being the Sedins, To take hometown discounts.
If he all of a sudden brought in some underachieving chump who makes 7+ it would destroy the locker room

You Know Couv..... that is not entirerly correct.
There is nothing to stop Gillis rewarding the lower contract now... which created a more balanced team... and then giving them a 1 year Golden Handshake contract at the end. Yes, it limits them for 1 season but in return, the Canucks get 10 seasons of good balance.
For Example... they both sign a 1 year deal at 7 million. That makes their previous lower 5.5 years average out to above 6.... pretty much their going rate. |

I could see them taking 7 mil short term but Vinny
We should all line up infront of Ian single file like the movie airplaine and take our turn slapping him
Joking Ian .It is so quite this offseason ,we will talk about anything.
Have you notice all summers are always about the Leafs,
Sundin
Kaberle
And the newest Leaf Roberto Luongo |

He also had a couple decent NHL seasons...
Corrado was a 5th round pick. I'd say it's a success if he becomes a regular NHLer. By the looks of his development, he is definitely looking like he could have been a steal.
Certainly not worth being pessimistic about... |

I don't like him right now. His injuries are annoying, his diving is embarrassing, and his production dropped way off this past year. |

I like Kesler, sure he had a bad year due to injury and the diving is annoying. Lets see if he can bounce back to form and play like he did the the cup run year, and he will top everyones list of favorite Canucks, your included |

Higgins and Lapierre were the most consistent players all year.
Lapierre is great, and he doesn't dive. |

Definitely. I almost bought his jersey last year.
That's why I said I don't like him right now... Hopefully he comes back stronger next year. |
