I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to suspect that the market for Lu isn't as high as most of us would like to it is. Apparently Tampa will only take him if we get Vinny back and Toronto will only do it if Komisarek is included. Doesn't sound like we're going to get much back so it wouldn't surprise me if both goalies are back next season or even Schneider gets traded(I hope not).

I wonder what it's going to be like here if Lu, Malhotra, Ballard and Raymond are all back along with AV.

I think Lu will be in TO. The rumours were Burke offered Schenn for Cody. If that is true then I can't see why Schenn wouldn't be offered for Lu. Schenn's a project but he does hit and block shots. If a pick came with him I would be ok with that.

The rest of them... I have no idea.

if its anything it will be malone, ohlund and one of our 2nds for lu and a dman whether its ballard or something. hell id even consider giving connolly too if we got edler. u guys get the power forward in malone (whose contract is a million less than luongos and his actual salary goes down to like 3 mill or something this yr) plus a dman whod be do for a raise anyway. ohlund will retire there prob next season if he cant give it a go. works out for everyone.

I'd love for the Canucks to get Connolly, but he's not worth giving up Edler.

Whenever we talk about trading Luongo, I think Dan Cloutier... I would rather keep Lou and trade Schneider. Use the 26th pick to get one of the 3 top goalies in this draft. Schneider could get you Tampas 2 1st round picks... We have the forward prospects in Jensen, Schroeder, Kassian to fill in the top 6 for the next 3-5 years. We need D prospects and this year there are numerous talented guys... Plus we all know Lou is good for 30 wins a season at least so as much as I like Schneider I take the big package for him and keep the vet and let someone develop over the next 6 seasons whether that be Lack or Subban etc...

Trades have happened during the playoffs before but i think they were just minor leaguers. still, it has always confused this question for me...
- muffin_man

Teams eliminated from the playoffs can make trades now, but teams try not to make trades unless they have all teams able to make offers, etc. It's kind of unwritten that teams wait till after the playoffs to make big moves

Usually they wait about a week after the Cup's been awarded to announce any big deals (which is around when the draft is anyways). I suspect most GMs make the trades after the season's over and during the playoffs and file the paperwork officially just before or at the draft out of respect for teams still competing.

1 you wont get a top 10 pick and a top 20 for schnieder. id be willing to MAYBE give you our 19th and connolly. he still doesnt have a giant work experience to give away two first rounders for him. those two first could be used to draft another stud dman and another goalie. we already have tokarski waiting. so u get schneider then garon to back him up next yr then have tik come in to back him up the following yr. get him 20 to 30 starts a season for a few yrs then trade him

The Port Mann or Second Narrows works better, you'll snarl up more traffic that way. Hold out from 5 am to 7pm and by then you'll have every major news network watching!

Goaltending is the position where the Canucks have the most prospect depth—they are set for years. They desperately need forwards and D.

Using a first round pick on a goalie, whether it be with their own or any they pick up in a trade would be an absolute waste.

They're way better off using a later pick on a goalie.

if he doesn't retire then you buy him out. 580,000 sitting on your books for the next 8 years sucks, but it isn't a terrible number.

I don't think Burke will take both Lu and Ballard. He's losing one bad long-term contract and getting 2 back. I know that Lu will retire long before it runs out, but it's still a risky contract.

I don't know what to expect at this point unlike past seasons.

Ballard is only on the books for two more years, not a bad contract. Burke would jump on it as he would see Ballard as an upgrade on Komi.

Both Ballard and Komi need a change of address and will do well.

I like Komi alot, I think he is just the player Van needs. Get him away from T.O and he will bounce back to the way he was with Montreal, a beast!
