That's speculation on your part, ass-backwards if I do say so myself.
- mochoson

Actually the speculation is thinking there will be a relief. Until one is in place and agreed up you are speculating more than I am.

Sorry guys, but Lu HAS to be traded this summer. His value continues to diminish if we wait another season to trade him.....the guy is about to enter his mid 30's......I could see Vinny, but the deal would have to be more than Lu and Vinny.....say:

Luongo
Ballard
Rodin

for

Vinny

IMO the longer they wait the more his value increases. I think this is why Gillis is saying don't be surprised if we come back with Lu and CS next year. The worse thing he could do it take back a bad ccontract.

I know I am known as the poster boy of change it now on Canuck blogs but with Lu I say don't be in a hurry. Move him but wait for the right deal.

- VANTEL

Lu at next trade deadline would be the highest value (would have been the same with Kipper or Jokinen)

Lecavaliers contract sucks hard. But windows closing and its a piece that would help. Also gives them options when dealing with kesler (yup I'm still picking on him).

What does long and short term have to do with it? If it's a one shot deal to get out of any contract you have on your roster, why would every team not take advantage of that?
- mochoson

Feaster would not want it considerin g the fact that he allready gave up valuable assets in order to dump Kotalik's bad contract. Had he known back then that in the future he would be able to get rid or bad contracts for free it may have made more sense to wait untill that became possible.

I understand the desire to get rid of Lu , just like the Hawks desire to get rid of Campbell , but I havent seen any Vancouver fans question that Schneider has never played a lot of games in a season. The most NHL games he's played in one season is 33.

I was thining that the Canucks should offer both goalies and see what the very best return is. Just my .02 , have a nice NW summer. Here's hoping that the Hawks and Canucks do whats necessary to get to the conference finals against one another again.

This is a joke, right?

Any canuck fan that thinks trading for Lecavalier is a good idea should be banished to the Leafs. Horrible, horrible idea.

The Canucks will get a far better return for Luongo than a 7 million dollar, twenty goal scorer.

When the Canucks eventually move Luongo for a prospect(s) or roster player(s) at a reasonable cap hit, make sure you come by and visit.

It should be some time in the early summer, around the same time the Leafs are officially eliminated from the post season again. So you should have lots of free time on your hands

I can't believe some Canuck fans are still thinking Luongo will start the year here. Even the coach said he wants out.

Original, resorting to the leafs and playoffs. Haven't heard that one before

You're the one with the GM who is whining about the offers he is getting for his goalie and how he's prepared to keep him another year

We're just dealing with the facts here unfortunately, not your hopes and dreams for what you want to get for Luongo.

THanksfully your own blog writer is trying to breath some logic into this debate but you're welcome to fight it all you want

I think it stems from Gillis saying he's prepared to keep Luongo another year due to the offers he's getting. I think it's just a ploy to try and up the value and you're right. Luongo isn't coming back after what has been said

He said nothing of the sort. He said he'd be prepared to keep Luongo if there isnt a deal out there to be had - get the difference?

no not really. You basically just said the same thing

No deal out there to be made also means quality of offers is not there. If there was a deal to be made, the offers would be better. Get the similarity?

I'm not debating this stuff anymore though, your own blog writer has even given the reality of the situation so there's nothing more to be said about it.

In all honesty like others have said, I don't think it's that bad of a deal for Vancouver. Vinny may not be the reg season dynamo that he once was but he still proved he can bring it come playoff time and isn't that the biggest knock against your team? Is guys who do not step up in the post season?

And if the buyout is only 200 grand more roughly than Luongo as Ian pointed out, where's the risk?

That one was ok but the best Leaf put down had to come from Shiddy when he said "After Dec 25 the Leafs and Santa Clause have little value." That one still cracks me up.

Playoff-season trade... Washington sends Chris Bourque to Boston for Zach Hamill.

David Pagnotta‏@TheFourthPeriod

For those asking, teams out of the playoffs are allowed to trade with one another.

There you go Ian you were right.
