It makes sense to move Luongo, if he agrees, to a team like Columbus or the NY Islanders. Those teams don't need to send a bad contract back or free up cap space to take him on. They also happen to need goaltending in the worst way!
Either that or trade Schneider for an incredible return! I can't wait until until this is don't with, and for AV to shut it. |

I think we all agree leave Vinny in TB - VANTEL
For sure.
Even vinny to mtl, i doubt they do. There almost out of the woods with gomez' ugly contract. They dont want to start another one.
Any chance van fans can stop hating on luongo?
Or is it all too late?
Hes obviously still good, and signed long term.
If u want a big package in return, deal schneider. |

The Isles have all the goalies they need and they are all better than Lu. Just ask their fans. They'll tell you.

Very few Canucks fans "hate" Luongo. It's more we feel Schneider is better and cheaper.

Not all fans hate Luongo. I like him and he's still a premier goalie that could get the Leafs or Bolts into the playoffs. Schneider is just better, younger and cheaper. |

I agree with everything here.
Canucks have many options .
Tradable to all 30 teams
Play backup to CS (Gillis has warned us he is willing to do this) He can match any offer sheet.
Trade Scheider for a top 2 D or top 3 forward.
We don't need to take back bad contracts. I could care less if TB or TO does not make the playoffs for the next couple of years. |

Look for Brodeur to retire after the playoffs.
Vinny in Van actually makes more sense than most people think. He's a big center who can have Kes on his wing where he's more effective. I'd take that contract.
I'd also take Marleau for Lu. The Sharks need a different look in goal and that could be a great fit.

NYI doenst desperately need goaltending and the bad contract in return has nothing to do with cap space on the team getting Lu, it has to do with Lu's bad contract getting you one in return |

I think you'll be shocked. Yes, there will be a bad contract coming back but Lu will also net the bucks a good prospect/1st rounder at the very least. - muffin_man
No. I fully expect them to get value back IF they take a bad contract like vinnys.
" If u take back another brutal contract, ull probably get the extra asset(s) u hope for too."
Luongo's obviously a better or more impactful player than vinny is and could help Alot of teams. So if its contract for contract, then van should be compensated with extra assets as well.
No one would ever argue luongos worth if he didnt have such an anchor deal. |

Everyone conveniently forgets to take into consideration that you're getting a guy who was voted for the Vezina last year. And...over the past five seasons he's been a top five goaltender and remains a top goaltender. But that's worth nothing, it's only about his contract? |

I just meant Lu can't say I will only accept a trade if I like the team. If he vetos a trade let him sit on the bench and hand Schneider his towel on tv breaks . |

Actual dollar amounts hardly matter these days.
Especially to a team with revenues like the canucks make.
Its the cap hit ( which actually isnt terrible at 5.3) or the term.
In this case its the term. 10 years. Brutal
Otherwise, luongo would fetch a ton. The guys an effin good goalie. |
