He also had a couple decent NHL seasons...

Corrado was a 5th round pick. I'd say it's a success if he becomes a regular NHLer. By the looks of his development, he is definitely looking like he could have been a steal.

Certainly not worth being pessimistic about...

Agreed, I liked Jiri, the flowing locks and all. Just saying I'm not ready to pencil that 5th rounder into the lineup next year.

Definitely. I almost bought his jersey last year.
That's why I said I don't like him right now... Hopefully he comes back stronger next year.

- Scooby_Doo

All good dude, everyone is Vancouver loves having him on the team despite his antics, fans in other cities with other favorite teams may not admit to liking Kes, but secretly wish he was on their team and there is isnt one GM in the league who wouldn't trade for him if they could afford the price or if he was made available.

Sorry, I am starting a regular Kesler lovefest here, gonna catch some hate for this!

Fair enough, that makes sense. There have certainly been prospects who were more successful in the CHL who didn't pan out.

Still, you have to be pumped about any kind of positive, considering the state of the entire Canucks prospect corps.

That's exactly what the Canucks need—a 1st rounder two years from now. The 5th overall this year likely wouldn't be enough for Gillis to trade Schneider.

Come on. You have to be joking?

That first rounder in 2014 will likely be the first overall.

Oh, well then. Sign the papers and get'er done, Gillis.

It's not like the Canucks have any ambitions to win any time soon, that would stop them from trading their starting goalie.

Might as well trade the Sedins for a 1st and 2nd in 2015.

Think that was sarcasm from Fosco, but I love yours and Chompsey's response. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yeah, AlexF's right, it was sarcasm in agreement with your post—I'm on your side. Sorry for not making it more clear.

Having guys in the pipe with a lot of promise is great but I'm not so dissatisfied with our prospects. While we all love to bash on Burke and Nonis, we have had pretty competitive farm teams for the past several years, so even though our drafting in the first round has been atrocious, we still have a lot of guys on our team now that we drafted, that's a good thing. It is always a great storey when a guy drafted in the 5th round turns out to be a stud NHL'er, much like an un-drafted guy that's about to get a raise to 4ish million per year.

What do you guys think? Maybe we should throw in Raymond?

Oh okay, I wasn't sure if you were or not. I hoped you were, but the seemed to be directed at me not with me.

I've never seen a trade where a 1st 2 years away was traded, unless it was accompanied by the first in the 1st year.

I like it, but Van should throw in a 3rd just to even it out a little
