is he too pretty? your woman hot for him?
i know, i know...over paid, over rated, can't/won't play defensive side, mediocre sniper at best, wrong side of 30, refuses to play C, not physical, kidnapped the lindberg baby.....did I miss any?

It's open to debate, but IMHO...Sharpie stepped up huge...as did Kaner.

What's your take on the 4th line Al?....will flick crack it..bollig is he coming back?
- southernhawk

So many variables now to tell...

I would think Bollig would be back.

My point was at 38 it doesn't make much sense to have Mayers play center. I am for his signing but think he would be best at wing....That doesn't mean he shouldn't take some faceoffs but that position is a challenge for someonce close to 40.

Also let's hope we don't have to see Mayers forced into a PP role....One that he never played throughout his long career.

I would like to see another faceoff/defensive specialist added that could help on the forecheck and play on the PK.

What's the deal with Dubinsky? Was he hurt? he only played 9 playoff games and had a poor regular season. I heard he mostly played wing, though his FO% was still high. He hits and has scored 20+ goals in the past. Anyone know what gives and if he would be a target for a trade?

Never said Kane was my hero, or that I even like him. I'm just as willing to trade Kane as I am Sharp, if the price is right. Anyone who doesn't think Kane stepped up huge when Toews went down though, just wasn't watching. He was the # 1 center in Toews' absence, and a pretty decent one.

I think he was hurt...Pretty poor performance otherwise. Again, this is what worries me about 2nd line center. they get paid a ton, and if they dont play well EVEYONE notices because you cant win without them.

Last time we had a Dubinsky it worked out well.

Dubinsky for Olesz and Huet.

didn't say boo either way about who stepped up. I think they both stepped up. Difference is when JT returned, kane seemed to fade away. maybe kane needs to be #1 guy on a team in his mind? i don't know.
you value kane, I value sharp...it's just 2 differnt ways of looking at it.

We will find out in the next few days how many Rangers are getting offseason surgery...Dubinsky wasn't close to 100%, and Richards looked hurt too..

yeah, I always forget..its hard to win when some of your better players are hurt. there's a ton of examples every series every year.

And Sharp? One point and -2 in 6 playoff games...didn't exactly light it up after Toews return.

I have no problem with Mayers on this team. I like Mayers. What I don't get is the timing. Why now? Why before July 1st? Exact same feelings I had when they extended Carcillo. Why are they locking up bit/role players before they even know if they could have signed someone better. Lots of options out there for support players...news flash...some of them might even be better/younger/faster/more offensively gifted than Carcillo and Mayers. It just has that feeling of the Hawks going down the same path as last off-season. Everyone knows this roster needed some changes, this does not feel like change, it feels like insanity.

It's early, I know.

Wait and see what else transpires?

I guess...no choice.

Early returns not promising in my book.

Agree 100%

theres no reason to sign him right NOW. WTF! He's an ok 4th line guy but he's 38 F'n years old. We can't find someone who's younger, faster and better?? I don't get it.

His kid is playing for the Chicago Mission next year and Marty Lapointe is listed as an asst coach for the team which was just recently put on their website so unless that is suddenly changing?

Getting Tazer back was obviously a great thing for the Hawks in the post season, but i wonder if his sudden return didn't mess up the positive energy the team had built in his absence. The line re-jigging, the minutes re-jigging...it might have taken some guys out of their flow...but obviously Tazer's return was NEEDED AND WANTED in this corner.

Evidently the Hawks front office felt they couldn't find anyone with Mayer's experience to play for close to the minimum.

I wouldn't sweat it....You just endured a far worse hockey player on the roster for almost two seasons....Mayers should not be a big issue.
