IF Kruger can add 10-15 lbs of muscle, he will be ready to take over for Bolland NEXT YEAR. It will be his 3rd year (2nd full season) in the league, and he will be even better this upcoming season (following a successful World Championships). The only thing holding him back right now is his size, and like I said, adding some muscle will make him even better. He is not the agitator Bolland is, but with Shaw, Carcillo, and Bollig, the Hawks don't need him in that role. The Hawks need to deal from a strength (3rd line centers) to fill BIGGER holes on the team (2C/3-4D). That said, the ONLY way I trade Bolland is for one of those type of players.

Meh

The quality of competition that Bolland goes up against every night vs the quality of competition Kruger does is vastly different.

Not a gamble a team with Stanley Cup aspirations should take, especially when they have a bunch of cap room and a lot of prospects that can be dealt instead.

As it was said earlier

Big strong winger for top 6 (regardless of center), Solid second pairing defender preferably with a bomb, 7th defender, faceoff - PK specialist and a new defensive and PP scheme.

This nonsense reminds me so much of the armchair GM's that wanted to move Andrew Ladd because he didn't score enough.

What are the odds that Shaw is able to fill that #3C role, and replace Bolland, before Kruger? Shaw's position in Juniors, and where he was drafted, is Center though he plays on the Wing now. I have no idea how he is in the face-off circle.

I wouldn't want to set odds but I would't bet againt it...

In as much as the Hawks front office is full of smart hockey men....No one had Shaw on the radar to contribute as much as he did last season, and I'm not only talking about the goals.

So it is hard for me to put a ceiling on Shaw's upside.

Oduya is another Monty..... Don't fall into that trap again..... Even Winnipeg fans wanted oduya off the team.

Jackman..... Like him a lot. Solid defender + bad a$$ mofo. Good fit for the hawks needs. Is he even a FA?

And the problem with both is the same...On a good team they are solid #5 that can step up at times...They aren't top four dmen on a very good team, at least they have never been able to stay at that level for long.

it would be something...... I can see it now....

Hawks trade for rights to Zach Parise

Five minutes later:

Hawks trade Patrick Kane to Boston for David Krejci (physical, young, 2nd line center) and Dougie Hamilton (NHL ready 6'5" physical dman)

Five minutes later:

Hawks trade Patrick Sharp, Brandon Saad, plus a 1st for Evader Kane and Blake Wheeler

Go out and sign FA garrison

What do ya got....

Wheeler - Toews - Parise
Hossa - Krejci - E Kane
Bickell - Bolland - Stalberg
Shaw - Kruger - Mayers
Carcillo

Seabs - Garrison
Keith - Hammer
Hamilton - Leddy
Monty

Yeah...... Nevermind ...... It's SB we are taking about

I have mentioned for awhile it wouldn' shock me if E. Kane was dealt....

Pass. Not a bad option, but he doesn't address any of our specific needs - 2nd line centre, big body forward or PK forward.

If that were to happen it would be to acquire Parenteau as a 2nd line center...

If that were to happen it would be also an admission when Parenteau was here his upside was underestimated.

Going back in on the same player is not impossible although it seldom happens.

So there's little chance of Moen coming back.

I think that is a different case....Moen isn't a young player who was just here and won't be looking for a big raise.

I enjoy reading everyone's trade scenarios. The posters on this site have some good thoughts and ideas on how to improve the team. Here is a quick trade scenario just for fun.

Assuming they sign Parenteau then they should trade Patrick Kane or Sharp. What about a trade of Patrick Kane + Bickell +Hjalmarsson to Winnipeg for Evander Kane(20 years old and a left wing) and Byfuglien. We need some toughness and size in our lineup. Let Byfuglien play D all year and move him to a forward spot for the playoffs. Evander Kane might turn out to be a 50 goal scorer some day( he netted 30 as a 20 year old).

Again... just for fun!!
