Its unfortunate too much blame is put on a goalie's shoulders when a team loses a series a lot of times. This was the first time in like 3 years, Lundquist made it out of the first round. Was it all his fault, all those years? Certainly not.

I think the Kings are going to roll the Devils.

he's an excellent goalie and not the reason why they haven't won anything. terrible d on the game winning goal.

Alright, now, million dollar question: L.A. or Jersey?

No way that's a soft goal. Goal mouth scramble and the Devils just wanted it more. Doubt anybody complains about CSP after this game.

not a chance. he was great the whole series except for 1 goal in game 5, and i think that one might have even deflected off the dman's stick.

I'm not so sure, LA has some real momentum with their offense. We all know they can go dry but they have confidence right now. Comes down to if LA can exploit arty who has made some big saves but not been the BEST goalie in any series yet. And if LA can handle the physical play and balanced attach of the NJD.

X factors will of course be frick and frack.

- coffee junkie

No, I think the X factor will be fourth lines, and whether or not Carter/Gionta/Bernier can continue to score and be a major force for the Devils, vs the Kings young callups and how they handle the pressure of the SCF.

And I think the Kings were given a huge gift in that last game. Phoenix deserved to win it, and if they had I think the Kings would have been on the ropes a bit, even though there were still leading. The tide was turning in that series and if not for the horrific refereeing that series is probably still going on now.

Always nice to see the Rangers lose. Just sucks it was the Devils that beat 'em.

This is going to suck. Either the Flyers have bowed out to the Cup-winners for the 4th year in a row or the "OMGFLYERSWESTIMSOEXCITED" Train is going to run full over Flyers talk for the next year.

Meh, I'll be happy for Hexy and the former guys if they win it, but I'm not exactly rooting hard for them.

I'll feel happy for Gagne (especially if he gets to play) and Hextall, but the Flyers-fans-who-are-now-also-Kings-fans-because-the-hottest-players-ever-to-wear-orange-and-black-are-now-in-LA has gotten tiresome.

EDIT: This has nothing to do with folks like MJL who appreciate what Carter and Richards did ON THE ICE here in Philadelphia. I am (pretty) sure MJL isn't a puck bunny.

I actually have always had a soft spot for Zubie. And it's been 16 years since he was in the finals. I don't hate these Devils. I like Parise.

As long as they're still in NJ (since they should have moved to Nashville in the mid- to late '90's until Gov. Whitless helped them stay here), I will hate the Devils.

Stupid reporter, "Would you consider the ghosts of 1994 exorcised?"

Marty, "Well, I don't know about that. We've won 3 Stanley Cups since then."

Yes, NY media, the world does not revolve around the NY Rangers.

The consecutive 7 game series and the absence of legit #5,6 D on the Rangers really showed. Several times I saw players coasting, not backchecking. For eg, I think it is Boyle on the Devil's first goal who barely makes an effort to catch up with his check (Carter) and pretty much gives up right away.

i don't know that i'd call it soft exactly, as there was a bit of a scramble. the dman behind him did a terrible job and just hugged the post. he should have been down behind him, brad marsh style. it would have stopped the goal.

edit: that was richards behind captain leg pads. that makes it even better.

Girardi was brutal on that play.

It's a shame because earlier in the game Girardi made a great stick on stick play to stop Parise on an almost sure goal. Not sure what Girardi was thinking leaving the front of the net and going behind it. leaving Henrique all alone unchecked. He had a great view of the Series winning goal. Definitely not a soft goal
