-Phaneuf was having the worst season of his career, and was having problems with the coach.
-Stajan was traded to us during his career year as he had 41 points in 55 games prior to the trade.
-White was also on a great year at 24 with 26 points in 56 games, and i still believe he -will become a 40 point + dman by next year or so
-Hagman had 20 goals in 55 games with 33 points
-Mayers gave the sharks needed experience and depth
during the time of the trade the flames needed more depth upfront so they made the trade. if the players continued to play well then maybe it would have been bad for toronto.

I'm dying at the Mayers part, not only is it completely (frank)ing irrelevant what these guys did with other teams (for that matter, what happened to White, Hagman and Stajan the rest of their time in Calgary? (frank)ing nothing, and with the exception of White, this was quite predictable) but that guy was by far the least significant player in the deal, I bet the Flames could have had him for a (frank)ing fifth rounder.

Even if those players had sustained the level they were at, Toronto would still have won the trade.

i had to trade malone and tokarski to VAN for luongo... then traded luongo and my first rounder for rinne.

then sent mike fisher (claimed him off waivers), MAB, brewer and a 2nd and 3rd for weber and suter.

garon and a 4th for biron and hagelin

signed selanne, kubina, and corvo in the offseason.

the fact that this roster is possible is insane. easily a cup team.
