This isnt why we arent close.. its not a Garth vs Lou pissing match.. it has to do with Lou has had his system for drafting & developing in place for over 25 years... Garth took over this expansion team 6 years ago.

I agree regarding Wang Potvin. Let's say Garth has no power or very little power he still needs to take a hit for staying in this position and letting Wang kill his rep. I also do not care if Garth has not been GM for 20 years. He is not Lou or even close. This is the last I'm saying on this subject because there is nothing else to add.

I really need to go to sleep, but last I checked, we've made the playoffs since Snow was the GM. There are a lot of factors involved in this, I'll give you that, but there is no way you could put ANYONE'S GM on Lamiriello's level. None.
He took a "Mickey Mouse" organization and turned them into a perennial winner. They were the biggest joke in professional sports in the 80s.

Personally I couldn't care less if an Islander ever appears on any video game, I'd rather see an owner who truly knows the game, and knows how to put a playoff bound team on the ice...today those of us Islanders fans are cheering for a team other than ours...that's the true commentary Dee...let's face it, the current Isles ownership couldn't punch their way out of a paper bag.

You would lose that bet my friend... I am not the type of fan that looks at the crest first.
I think Tavares is a decent player... but not that special on the whole. You can argue he plays on a worse team than Giroux and Malkin... but other players thrive on bad teams (i.e Kessel!) so I don't really take that excuse.
JT will be a top tier player in the league... but he will never be the best, never win a Hart Trophy, and likely never hoist a cup (unless he leaves long island).
