It's not a bad thing to have two goalies who can potentially be starters. |

Hmm. I suppose it would depend on the prospect but if that's the sort of deal we're looking at I'm not all that interested. I like Clowe though.
Not that trading Kipper is necessarily realistic, it's just a popular sentiment right now. - S Kaspar Rollins

How about Kiprusoff? What would you give up for him? - S Kaspar Rollins
Kipper should get roster player, prospect, and pick at the present moment of his contract. That will start to drop as next two years go by. If I was CGY, I'd trade him now. Give the job to Karlsson and Irving. |

Even if the Flames did decide to put Kipper on the market, how many teams would be interested in him? Only contending teams are gonna want him and there really aren't any contenders that need a goalie. The only one I can think of is Chicago. |

If Columbus really wants yakopov, they will NOT trade their first rounder 2012, most likely they would want to draft both yakopov and galchenyuk. So most likely they will have to give up ryan johansen+ for yako. Makes the most sense in my books. Or if edmonton wants D they could make a bigger trade or look at defenders like john moore or JJ. - Mapleleafs_91

I would hope so - Dreger said awhile back he thinks Kipper might even get a better return than Iginla - but, as I've said a million times, goalie trades don't typically get that much. |

Maybe we see a 3-way deal.
Tampa Bay gets:
Roberto Luongo
Tyler Bozak
Toronto gets:
Vincent Lecavalier
Mason Raymond
Vancouver gets:
James Reimer
Ryan Malone
I'm not sure how the trade would work but it would kind of fit that Lecavalier lands in Toronto when they need a center, Canucks get Malone and another young goalie and Tampa Bay gets a younger center and a goaltender.
Well that's my piece, feel free to rip me apart - martok2309
Not enough coming back to Vancouver. Swap Reimer out for something else. Vancouver has no need for him. Lack is possibly better than Reimer already, plus he's cheaper and is already in the system. If the Canucks want another goalie, it would be a veteran backup, only if they choose to keep Lack in the minors for another year.

Trading a young kid like Johansen just to move up one slot is utter foolishness. Makes no sense whatsoever. |

I agree, which is why I'm sceptical of the idea he'll get a huge return. This is the fundamental problem with goalie value - at any given time there are only a certain number of vacancies and there's the added problem of the cost. I think, if the Flames were shopping him, best-case scenario would be positioning themselves as the cheaper alternative to teams looking at Luongo. Then again they would also have to contend with Thomas being available, not to mention maybe Bernier as well. |

One of TBL 1st round pick instead of Reimer. |

I'm assuming they still might be interested even if they win the Cup. LA has always been one of the teams I've envisioned for Iggy. Sadly, it looks like he'll have to ask out before the Flames trade him, and I don't know if that's ever going to happen. |

Karlsson blows and Irving's AHL stats are alarmingly bad (he had some experience this year but the minor leagues are still the bulk of his experience.) Mind you, there's plenty reason to trade Kipper even if it means they'll plummet to 30th without good goaltending (hell, a really cynical person might argue this is actually a reason to do it). |
