they over priced them selves
from the rangers they wanted(in one big deal)
dubinsky,kreider,1st,erixon and stepan
from san jose(so i heard) they wanted
clowe,couture,1st,1st - TheRussian
They way, way overplayed their hand, which is somewhat understandable (it was always easier to trade him in the offseason anyway) but I don't understand why they made it public he asked out afterwards. That can't help their leverage at all. |

Thanks, and I never said Suter himself wants to play in Chicago (as the poster implied). I don't know that.
What I said was:
- he grew up as a Hawk fan (verified),
- some members of his family would very much like to see him in Chicago (verified)
- and the Hawks have him #1 on their list going in to UFA (numerous Chicago sources)
There is also an undeniable draw of playing with some very good players. Almost assured due to their ages and contract status) for the next 4-5 years minimum.
I also believe Nashville has a shot at keeping him based on what I've heard.
I had not heard the big market/small market angle before and there could be something to that. - John Jaeckel
I think some clarification of this entire issue is needed - is it the big market (i.e. big city) or the pressure that comes with it that Suter allegedly does not like?
If it's the city, that's one thing - but if its the pressure - we're talking about the number one sought after UFA in this upcoming off season, someone who will likely command upwards of a $7M per your cap-hit commitment. He wants this kind of money, but is afraid of the pressure? Does this scare anyone else? That doesn't sound like the kind of guy I want to pay big bucks. |

no offense to edmonton fans but why would nash accept a trae to edmonton?he has a NTC(or is it NMC?)and gets final say(obvoiusly)he wants playoff berths and doesnt want to be part of a rebuild |
|
|
|
It was Kreider and I don't think NYR regret passing on it looking at it today. - deks1
Nope. Say what you want about Sather, he's without a doubt one of the best traders in the game. |

If you are right about NYR-CBJ and the deal did go through, CBJ should not be crying if they had to overpay for EDM 1st round. Using their existing assets plus NYR traded assets for 1st pick is quite a good cupboard to bargain with.

Yeah, dishing Gomez to MTL.
Want him, but not his salary cap in EDM, it would wreak havoc on resigning the kids towards the future. |

None of you have answered why the #1 pick is allegedly worth this much in comparison to the #2. |

Agreed, this is why I doubt a pick-swap scenario would include Nash. I think he gets moved somewhere in the Eastern Conference. |

why not?they were in the nash sweepstakes until the final minutes - TheRussian
I think it should be pretty obvious why I dont want the sharks getting a player like nash.... no offense of course. If I was in the sharks shoes, I wouldn't give up whatever young players I have for rick nash. I say start the mini rebuild with couture or pavs as the part of the core. Get rid of thornton, marleau, nemo, Tmac, etc. Just my opinion of course.

When EK refers to discussions with them he means the blogger Esplen or posters such as Vantel or Beatle john and such right?? |

Has Yakupov gotten anywhere near the hype as, say, Stamkos? Tavares? Admittedly I haven't paid all that much attention to it. |

i full on agree.we with out a doubt need a new goalie.i would keep one of jumbo joe and marleau.i would prefer joe but thats just me.i think we clean house this year and look for solid depth and a top goalie.i would even take luongo at this point |

I also find it amusing that he's trotting out this rumor that was laughed off when it was made up by the editorial board at the Globe (or whatever paper it was) months ago. |

he has gotten a decent amount but no where near as much as those guys.last years draft and this years draft is pretty weak(compared to past).next year i would expect a bit of a rise on hype |

If CBJ and EDM were to swap picks, no to CBJ paying a pot of gold to move up one spot. I can only see John moore plus 2nd to EDM for 1st. Now if CBJ wants to keep 2nd pick and pry the 1st pick...EDM is not going to sit pat and let it go. This is ONLY if CBJ wants Yakupov and Galchenyuk, CBJ will have to pay up. |

I don't know what'll get more hype next year. The "Next One" Nathan MacKinnon or Tie Domi's son. |

TO EDM:
#2 overall (Ryan Murray)
Robin Lehner
#15 overall
To Columbus:
#1 overall(Nail Yakupov)
Foligno
Zibanejad
To Ott:
Nash
Methot - Cup 06
Hmmm. Interesting...
We've far from giving up on dubnyk yet. Hes gonna get a chance to be a true 1 this year. So i dont think lehners the piece we want.
Rather zibinejad. Cbj also needs tending.

The Sharks need to do what the Flyers did last year. Dump all their aging core players for high draft picks or hyped prospects. You just gotta hope the team that they end up on doesn't go to the finals the next year. |

Hmm. I suppose it would depend on the prospect but if that's the sort of deal we're looking at I'm not all that interested. I like Clowe though.
Not that trading Kipper is necessarily realistic, it's just a popular sentiment right now. |
