Highly doubt OTT would put all their goaltending reliabilty on Anderson and Bishop for the future. It's more like Bishop gets moved.

Columbus might as well move to Quebec City the day after the draft if that's all they'd get for Nash. |

What they would be getting for Nash/Methot is
Foligno
Zibanejad
Lehner
#15 overall
pretty good package, they move two pieces to move up in the draft or they stand pat.
Nash had 59 points last year and has a huge cap hit/contract. His value isnt as high as some may think. It is a big deal to move out that much salary. |

That looks pretty solid for me, you don't give up anything other than trading 1 spot down and get a mid-1st rounder.
It's worth noting that nobody has traded down from the #1 since 2003, when Pittsburgh traded up from #3 to get Fleury (and Florida then took Horton, after Carolina took Staal at no. 2 - kind of a weird move all around in retrospect). In that trade, Pittsburgh traded the no. 3 and a 2nd for the no. 1 and a 3rd - fairly typical trade-up in other words. Granted, this was 9 years ago, but I still think it's possible people are highly overrating the value of the no. 1 in this context. |

In your previous post you had Lehner going to Edmonton.
Anyway, I agree with you on Nash being overrated and Columbus likely not getting what they want (for other reasons as well - you're taking the leap of faith that Nash would agree to go to Ottawa). However, I still think Columbus will get slightly more than that deal, and I doubt it would be necessary to merge Nash into a trade involving a trade up to #1. |

You ask for it...it's the world of overpayment...Hamilton(convo starts there, otherwise CBJ hangs up), Thomas (for goaltending help if they can't land anyone else), Marchand, & 1st round pick. |

Only if an unexpected bidding war arises between teams that KNOW Nash will agree to go (remember, LA pulled out and settled for Carter in part because they never were sure if LA was actually on his list). I've said this ever since Columbus idiotically made it public that he asked out, I think it's likely it ends like the Heatley saga. (Mind you, that worked out OK in the end for Ottawa, but it sure wasn't on purpose.) |

i think timmy would be the one because he isnt signed and rask has proven to be a solid NHL goalie and IMO is ready to be a starter.if boston,i wouldnt be surprised to see a deal of thomas,hamilton,1st and possible prospect or another draft pick thrown in the mix |

Basically the first step of a three team trade. He would end up in Edmonton as part of a swap of picks.
I think a young and upcoming team and getting the chance to play with Spezza and Karlsson on the powerplay would be enticing. |

IIRC, the Rangers were the team closest to getting him, but they refused to put McDonagh, Del Zotto and/or Kreider in the deal so it died. Can't remember which player specifically was the dealbreaker, I think it was Kreider though. |

It was Kreider and I don't think NYR regret passing on it looking at it today. |

But now they know he himself asked to leave so his value went down. Funny how that works out. poor cbus. always getting the poop end of the stick.
