It's not that those are bad proposals, I think there's value there for Edmonton. I just don't know that Edmonton makes such a drastic decision when either Murray or Yakupov are good fits for them as well.
- Morris

I wouldnt go all insane over murray, there are plenty of defenders in the league first off, and there is always next draft if you seriously needed another defender where you can draft in first round. You have other trade able assets like MPS, like hemsky, etc etc that could help you guys obtain some legit defenders. If yakopov can get you ryan johansen which you guys always wanted and john moore, even if you had to add a bit, in my books that would be a really good deal. Columbus gets galchenyuk and yakopov to carry their team for years to come, a duo that still remains on same team? thats awesome. And you guys get a defender and centerman who are first rounder draft guys as well. Both GM's want something, Edmonton wants a defender, but they would also want ryan johansen. Columbus would want to have both gal and yako, so they would have to give up what edmonton is requesting but also wants a fair comeback than just yako.

Suter growing up and his family all were Hawk fan for generations, his family wants him in Chicago if all else is equal (I know for a fact), and Chicago wants him.

I think it will come down to there, Nashville or Minnesota. Detroit is not the shoo-in some believe. They have money but not a lot of the other factors he will be looking at.

- John Jaeckel

problem is Suter is not interested in big markets. now you can argue Detroit is a big market, but it is easier to disappear in Detroit. The history could add pressure to him in Chicago...which apparently he wants nothing of...just what I am hearing.

When you have an asset...you need to treat it as such. You owe it to yourself.
- Eklund

Yeah, ok but that's still 1/2 the equation.

If I'm Columbus, I keep my #2, just me. Chances are Edmonton grabs D with their pick, because it's what they need. If not, pick Galchenyuk (not sure I spelled that right) and move on.

And I hope for Edmonton's sake they don't pick Yak because he's supposed to be the #1 guy. Terrible way to run an organization IMO.

Plus, chances are decent Columbus will be right back in the first three picks convo next year as well.

CBJ is not going to trade any of that combination for the number one pick when the number 2 pick will yield a quality player. Johansen, Moore and JJ are going nowhere. It's not as if CBJ only has one hole to fill.

I agree with you.

Look at it this way. Edmonton doesn't control the first pick. They control Yakopov. and there are teams willing to overpay for him based on his abilities. If not Columbus they move him elsewhere. The argument can be made they should move him for some established D help instead, since a drafted defenseman can take a long time to make an impact.

Nfph the Flyers NEEDED D last draft, any look what happened. They took the best available, which made many flyer fans not thrilled, and look what happened. We got a stud in Couts. Gotta take the best vailable.

I can see CBJ trading Nash first, for that trade they will ask for a good number is young defensemans that they feel EDM would want, then make a trade composed of bodies maybe from CBJ and the bodies from Nash trade to EDM for 1st round. CBJ can maybe overpay depends what they get for Nash.

He's talking about the teams suter is interested in not the teams that are interested in suter. Im sure every team that can afford him will make a push

Ah, so paying for the certainty of Yakupov is an angle I can see. Not one I'd participate in in their shoes, but one I can see.

It looks now as if the Lightning are only willing to go after Luongo if Vancouver would be willing to take the Lecavalier contract...which the Canucks have zero interest in as of my discussions with them this morning...

So deplete the d-corps and trade away a NA centre with huge upside for 2 unproven talents and one just happens to be Russian (remember CBJ's history with Russians)?

This seems foolish.

Komisarek would be included in any deal for Luongo....(just a little something for those of you on the comments thread only)
- Eklund

I figured Reimer + Armstrong (Komisarek works as well) + a pick for Luongo. Scrivens is proving his worth and future at the AHL level so no need for Reimer with Lu and Scrivy around. Not that I'm giving up on Reimer, he's just not Luongo. However we could probably fetch a good price for Scrivens....

Would say TO has about an %80 of landing a big contract this summer (1 of Luongo or Nash basically)? Unless Lups is going I don't see how they could acquire both with Gardiner, Kessel, Lups, Kulemin, all getting raises + the addition of a 1C.

I'd love to see Burke pull off a quick one.

Offer up Schenn or Franson and the 5th to Edmonton for the 1st.
Edmonton drafts one of Reinhert, Murray, Dumba or OReilly

Then flip the 1st overall to Columbus with Mac, Connolly and a mid level prospect for the second overall and Nash.

Not sure of the overall logistics of the second trade with Columbus, but it would involve getting Nash and the 2nd overall pick, for the 1st overall pick and some players (not named Jake Gardiner)

2nd overall pick, Galchenyuk or Grigs.

lineup

Nash- ? - Kessel
Lupul - Grabo - Kuli
Frattin - Bozak - Kadri
Crabb - Steckel - Brown

Phanuef - Liles
Gardiner - Franson
Gunnar - Holzer
