How was Schneider's path easier than Bernier's?
Sorry but I am not seeing your point at all. I can't explain why I disagree any better than I already did.
Why do you think Bernier had the tougher path? - GoneFullRetard
Because he is still a backup. Talking about the starter job like a finish line, he got there before bernier. Lou didn't play well enough, So Schneider got a shot to take the reins, and he did. JB had that shot and failed. Lou is still an elite goaltender, but cs outplayed him. My point being, CS had an obviously easier path, because he is there now. JB is not.

LA were picked by the hockey insiders to win this year. They woke up in the playoffs and are now doing what was expected of them.
Canucks are a very good regular season team
That is why you are still playing and we have joined the Leafs golfing. - VANTEL
Sorry, but a team that is one win away from the cup isn't just a good regular season team.

You are joking right? If Philly had Lu they would be still playing right now.
We got steamrolled by a good team with great goaltending and finally playing to their potential. Lu is not the reson the Canucks are out. |

We were also one goalpost away from a first round exit. |

Schneider is better. That isn't hard to figure out.Everyone can see that Schneider could be one of the best goalies in the league . |

Canuks had a lot of problems this year starting with a very average D .Goaltending was not our problem. |

Thank you. Thats what im getting at. Obviously, somewhere down the line, lou did not play well, other wise Cory Schneider would be an afterthought. Schneider had an easier path then JB because Schneider is now a starter and Bernier is not. And I dont know how else to explain it. Schneider(god im sick of typing that name) took the job away from an elite goaltender. JB hasn't quite figured out how to do that yet.

Thats my point. Goaltending was great boom. Lou was awesome. CS was better. obviously, because if he wasn't you wouldnt be trading lou. He reached the finish line before JB. Still a difficult path, just easier then JB

Sorry, I totally disagree. When Schneider came into the league, Lou was just as elite and even more high profile than Quick. He had also been elite for longer than Quick, who's stardom is really just beginning. Hence, why I said Bernier's path is more difficult now, as he's going through what Schneider did starting several years ago.
Agree to disagree, I guess. - Fosco
Bernier's also three years younger than Schneider so we'll wait three years and see what happens. The Kings could end up in a very similar situation. |

Vancouvers goaltending stole so many games for us this year maybe 20 pts.If we had a decent D not a bunch of number 3/4 D we could have done some damage. That being said LA deserves what they have won. |

If the Devils win the Cup, that's the same as the Flyers winning it...In my humble opinion... |

There really is only one important distinction between our arguements.
You feel Schneider had an easier path.
I believe Schneider had a much more difficult path, but is just simply a better goalie.

Maybe we see a 3-way deal.
Tampa Bay gets:
Roberto Luongo
Tyler Bozak
Toronto gets:
Vincent Lecavalier
Mason Raymond
Vancouver gets:
James Reimer
Ryan Malone
I'm not sure how the trade would work but it would kind of fit that Lecavalier lands in Toronto when they need a center, Canucks get Malone and another young goalie and Tampa Bay gets a younger center and a goaltender.
Well that's my piece, feel free to rip me apart - martok2309
I actually dont hate this trade, it makes sense for all 3 teams, but I would have to say take Reimer out as Vancouver has Lack waiting in the wings to be Schneiders back up. I think Van would like a pick to go with Malone.
I could see some variation of this 3 way trade happening with these teams, I like the way you think. |

jesus, I'll be the happiest guy in the world when Luongo gets traded so I can stop hearing about that $hitty goaltender.
Seriously, if he's so damn good, keep him Vancouver. Everybody wins |

Not an argument, just shootin the breeze. I would never begin to tell you Schneider was a worse goalie, he has had more chances, more starts then JB has had, making it easier for him to take the starter job. It is possible for someone to have a difficult path, and still have an easier path then others. Simply put CS is a starter. and JB is not. Somewhere down the line, CS took the job. JB is trying to figure out how to do that, will CS already has figured that out. Still a difficult path. just easier then JB

If Berns is the real deal, he will be traded because he will never get a shot behind a young Quick.........
I'd certainly take a chance on Berns but I also wanna give Scrivens a shot too. He is the MVP in the Ahl right now as well.
The leafs are no where near being a cup contender so taking chances on young cheap goalies is what they need to do. Not over priced over hyped mid 30's goalies |
