I think he mighta meant van will be dealing from a position of weakness,
And wont be getting a kings ransom for lu.
Most of us already knew this because of that horrible contract, but now canuck fans might have to face the truth as well - hugefemale dog77
The only thing it really means IMO is that the possibility of trading Schneider is now confirmed to be zero. Possibly hurts Vancouver's leverage, but I'm not sure by how much, given that there's only a few realistic options for Luongo anyway owing to the NTC and other reasons. |

Im missing something obviously.
Haven been following the convo for long. Sorry.
Did u mean luongo?
Av admitted lu wants out, but u dont think the nucks will be keeping schneider?
If nuck fans want the big return, its gotta be schneider moving. |

Trading a young kid like Johansen just to move up one slot is utter foolishness. Makes no sense whatsoever. - Oneonta Penguin
How does that make no sense smart one? your basically trading yakopov for ryan johansen, columbus drafts galchenyuk, you have the sarnia sting duo right there. |

The real news is Suter has interest in the Avs. If we get Suter maybe we can attract Parise too and have a Team USA line.

The oilers wouldnt do that deal straight up.
Imo, If they're making the move down, they want murray.
They dont have to trade the pick, so are probably asking a huge price in johansen AS WELL as the pick.
Fill 2 biggest needs. Dman and a big 2nd line center.
As an oiler fan, id throw something else in to make this happen. |

There are some concerns with Lack and his ability to play an NHLgame. I'm hoping someone will tweak that trade but then again I realize how untradeable Lecavalier is. - martok2309
Where on earth are you getting this?
Everything I've heard coming out of both Vancouver, and the Chicago Wolves says otherwise. Wendell Young nearly filled his shorts praising the kid, not to mention several of the TSN and CBC analysts who are saying it won't be long until he is an NHL starter, let alone a backup.
Seriously, I've followed his press clippings quite closely, and I've never read anything that said there are doubts he will perform in the NHL. Goalie Guild has him ranked as the #3 goalie prospect in the world, behind Markstrom and Holtby (I'm starting to sound like a broken record with this).
edit: and then you go on to say Scrivens is NHL ready a few posts later Lack is better than Scrivens, not by a huge margin, but I don't think you'll find any NHL scout or GM that would take Scrivens over Lack. Starting to wonder how much knowledge of other team's prospects you actually have. |

Ooops, you're right, I messed up, meant to write "trading" not "keeping" Schneider. Before this report, some had suggested they might trade Schneider instead. |

Listen, if you want to really discuss this, you can PM me.Go back and read the blog, look at the facts presented, then PM me. It's not just abut geography, I never said it was. You seem to keep maintaining that's the totality of what I have said on this. However, it's not.
Geography aside . . .
Chicago wants him. He grew up a Hawk fan. They will have money to make him a competitive offer. His agent might want him there for endorsement purposes and because of his relationship with the guy most likely to be Suter's partner. And some members of Suter's family want him there. I guess that doesn't matter. Whatever makes your world go around. - John Jaeckel
No fair. If this reasoning doesn't work for Vancouver and J. Shultz (according to a few Leafs and Oilers fans), it doesn't work for Chicago and Suter |

Nonsense. Suter isn't going anywhere. Don't get your hopes up Detroit, Minnesota, or Colorado.
It would take Datsyuk, Koivu and Clutterbuck, or Landeskog just to get Suter's rights.

I don't see anything that Columbus and Edmonton could agree on to trade. What is one spot worth. Murray was 0 pts, 2 shots on goal and -1 playing with Duncan Keith at the worlds before being scratched. Doesn't scream NHL ready to me.
Edmonton also has tons of prospects, especially on d. They have so many players that they run the risk of not being able to sign anyone else due to hitting the maximum of 50 contracts per team. So I am thinking the oilers aren't looking to pickup more d prospects. They have tons of those. They need a player that can be a top 4 dman in the next 2 years. Nothing less. Tambellini said as much with his interview on TSN when they won the draft lottery. He is committed to filling the holes when the team is ready to win. Not grabbing players that will make the NHL after RNH is a UFA.
Even Murray might be 2 years from being NHL ready. Dumba, being the largest gamble in the top 10 picks, might be the only other player after Nail that could play next year in the NHL.
I don't see how Edmonton having 4 good players would not have enough ice time or cap room for them. That makes no sense to me. Lots of teams have 2 lines that play a fair amount of minutes and are relied on for scoring. Plus they are not all going to become Ovechkin paid players. How much will they make? 5 mill a year? 6? Will that be all 4 of them? I think if those 4 players get good enough to warrant 6 million each a year, Edmonton would be laughing and still have cap room. Look at Chicago and what they pay Seabrook, Hossa, Toews, Keith and Kane. It is absolutely ridiculous to think that these 4 rookies are going to put Edmonton over their cap when their extensions come up right about the time when Horcoff and Hemsky's do. Theirs your money.
Edmonton is not worried about paying Nail 3.5 million next year and not worried about him playing 15 minutes rather than 18 minutes of ice time. Not considering the games loss due to injury from 3 of there players on their top 2 lines last year. Edmonton Finished 30, 30, 29. They are not an offensive threat. They are not worried about having too many goals or too many superstars at this point.
The only trade with Columbus that makes sense, sends Nash to Edmonton for prospects or picks.
Edmonton's concerns are winning games, ditching salary, ditching contracts to keep their good prospects, developing their young players with a new coach and GETTING THE PUBLIC TO CALL THEIR MLA'S AND TELL THEM TO PAY 100,000,000 FOR THE NEW ARENA. In opposite order. |
